(Duncan's POV)

I head to the fridge, pulling out some freshly cut up pineapple.

My mom walks up to me, stealing a piece.

Duncan:"Hey ma!"

Duncan's mom:"Hey hon! You've been acting strange... you haven't got in trouble for a whole month..." she said concerned.

Duncan:"People change ma." I said.

Duncan's mom:"Sure Duncan... anyway ready for highschool?"

I choked.

Duncan:"It's no different." I said.

Duncan's mom:"No it's A LOT different. Maybe you might even get a girlfriend?"

I looked at my mom weirdly.

Duncan:"Ma, I think I'm good."

Duncan's mom:"Okay, but wipe down the table when your done!"

I rolled my eyes, and started wiping the table down.

So much for bonding.

(Courtney's POV)

High School is in TWO WEEKS!

I am STOKED!!

I've already got new clothes, shoes, and school supplies for the new school year!

I know im gonna be the new kid, but I got Bridgette to help me out so it's okay.

And Duncan...

I was moving around stuff in my room, and my mom comes in.

Courtney's mom:"Court! Look what I found!"

She shows me a seashell necklace.

Courtney's mom:"I figured you might want it and I just found it in the boxes! It's from when you and Bridgette went and had that beach trip! Remember?"

I was trying to remember what she meant...

~FLASHBACK~

We were taking a long car ride to a beach.

Little Bridgette:"I wanna see the fish!"

Little Courtney:"Me too!!"

Bridgette's mom:"Hold on girls! We are almost there!"

We arrived and immediately hopped out the car.

Little Bridgette:"Let's go court!"

Little Courtney:"Yay! Fish!!"

We splashed around in the water, and I felt something under my feet.

I picked it up to find a white and blue faded seashell.

Little Courtney:"Look Bri! Let's try to find another to make matching necklaces!"

Little Bridgette:"Okay!"

We looked in the sand for a good five minutes.

Little Bridgette:"I found one! Let me go ask my mama for string!"

She ran back to the water with black elastic string.

Little Bridgette:"Mama had some! Let's make them!"

We poked holes into the seashell with a stick, tying them around each others necks."

Little Bridgette:"No matter how far apart we are, the ocean will reunite us."

Little Courtney:"Let's write the date in the back of them!"

We picked up a old sharpie, and wrote the date.

7/14

Little Bridgette:"perfect!"

We kept splashing around in the water, having the time of our life.

I finally came back to reality.

Courtney:"Yea Mom I remember!"

Courtney's mom:"Here, put it on your vanity."

She hands me the necklace.

Courtney:"Thanks mom."

I gently put the necklace on my vanity, hoping to suprise Bridgette with it later.
