Wow!"
20-year-old Kai whistled in impressment.
"Frankly, I'm quite surprised you even made it in to this fancy high school with the reputation you got going on here. His cousin, Lloyd, sighed.
"Relax, it's not a big deal. You told me yourself this Ninjago City High has no cred."
Kai's sister, Nya smiled.
"Yeah, but it'll be fun, the three of us!"
Kai nodded enthusiastically.
"This year will be a hella lot more exciting than the last, especially with the new freshmen crowding in here."
"Sure, I guess."
Lloyd said solemnly. It was only a two weeks until he was back into school—again.
Later....
"We're here!"
Kai said in a sing-song voice as he guided Lloyd and Nya off of the Mercades shuttle. When Lloyd looked around to asses his surroundings, he saw at least fifty more minibuses in the parking lot. Nya tapped him on the shoulder. That was when Lloyd noticed the high school in front of him. In was ENOURMOUS, much too big for even words to describe.
"Wow,"
He murmured.
"It's not too big or anything, but believe me, it looks better on the inside."
Through the doors was pretty incredible, too. Kai led the two others to the front desk.
"Hey, Mrs. S. I've got two newcomers to show around. Which room for Lloyd Garmadon and Nya Smith?"
"Your numbers?"
The woman asked in return.
"102264, 134860, and 121779."
"Your rooms will be 244 and 249."
"Great. Thanks Mrs. S."
Kai beckoned for Nya and Lloyd to follow him. They took the stairs to the second floor, then went to their rooms to get settled.
"Here we are,"
Kai announced, opening the door. Lloyd set his bag down in a corner and began to unpack silently.
"You can get first dibs on bunk bed privileges since this is your first time,"
Kai went on.
"But next semester, I don't think your roomate will go as easy on you."
He chuckled, then looked at Lloyd. Their was a look on his face Kai did NOT like...
"You're thinking of Misako, aren't you?"
Kai said solemnly. After Lloyds dad had murdered his mother in front of him then ghosted everybody, Lloyd changed a lot. He wasn't as social. He didn't really talk. He kept to himself, but Kai was bent on loosening him up.
"What does it matter?"
Lloyd replied.
"You're right. I should just get over it."
He began setting up his belongings on the desk. Kai patted him on the shoulder.
"Hey, don't be so rough. I'm sure you'll meet some new friends. Plus, it's nothing like middle school. You've only got 4 1/2 hours MAX. They've got loads of sports, plus a few elemental masters to teach you, too. Trust me, it's fun."
Lloyd nodded solemnly.
"Sure, I'll try. But I'm not going to become Mr. America on the first day like you."
Kai scoffed.
"That's fine! Nobody gets as lucky as me. All I mean is to not become the goth guy."
"Sure, whatever you say."
Lloyd mumbled.
