The rest of the week everyone was still very abuzz with the party, and most of the nerds were hoping to get an invitation for it. On Thursday morning in homeroom, Ms. Davis looked happy concerned, like your mom when she found out your search history but doesn't want to scare you when she brings it up. Everyone groaned internally.
"Class, I've heard about a big party going on in the dorms tomorrow with lots of...stuff."
"Oh no."
She held up an invitation.
"The sophomores were passing them around. Do any of you want to tell me what this is about?"
She didn't look so happy anymore once no one said a word.
"It was also confirmed there would be under aged drinking."
Lloyd sank back in his chair. Looks like the fun was a bit too deep of a dive. He should have given his invitation to some rando and accept this jail for what it was...even though legit NO ONE had said ANYTHING since Ms. Davis entered the room.
"So the principal and I had a chat."
Her voice was anything but cheerful now.
"We hereby cancel whatever kind of party you were going to have. Now, onto morning announcements..."
"Well, that's not a surprise,"
Lloyd reminded himself.
"Some geek leaked it out, and besides, no one here is smart enough to keep something hidden for 7 days. The only thing everyone was looking forward to is gone."
Boy, was he wrong. By math, everyone had passed on a note saying
Party is going to Junior dorms. Sector B2. Code is 'Carpe vinum'. For more details, see SUSAN. Pass this to the person on your left.
Lloyd passed it once the teacher turned their back. Maybe there was more credit needed than given for these kids. They didn't know when to quit. That night, when Lloyd got to his dorm, Jay was in the living room with a worried look on his face.
"You okay?"
Lloyd asked. Jay immediately smiled.
"Yeah, I'm just not going is all."
Lloyd tilted his head to the side.
"How come?"
He asked. Jay shrugged.
"Just occured to me..."
Lloyd nodded.
"Oh ok..."
5 p.m
KNOCKAKNOCKAKNOCK.
"Who is it?"
The person on the other side of the door asked.
"Someone who wants Carpe Vinum."
Lloyd replied. The door unlocked and opened. He was surprised to see Harumi standing in the doorway.
"What are you doing here?"
She asked. Lloyd gestured towards the wild party behind her.
"Is it not obvious?"
He brushed passed her. The dorm was pretty big, but completely packed with teenagers on each and every side. Lloyd made his way to a barstool, which helped avoid most of the commotion. Not long after Harumi walked over.
"What do you need?"
Lloyd asked. Harumi blinked vastly before replying.
"Nothing, I just want to be near someone in case I get too drunk."
