Maybe we should all sleep over at one person's house next time. So we are not waiting twenty minutes every time we stop to pick up someone. Charlotte commented as she sent what I am going to assume a warning text to Aribeth.
If I ever had an empire to rule I would pay Charlotte top dollar her services.
"I'm coming geez. You can't let a girl get just five minutes to pull herself together. " Aribeth grumbled. I had to chuckle as I remember a certain someone who was facetiming me last night still trying to pack and question the airlines baggage requirements. Stating that the allowance of six checked bags is too little.
Mind you we are only going on vacation for two weeks.
As the last of the crew has finally entered the limo. A bit of tension released in my shoulders.
"This is going to be a good trip. Everything will work itself out." I whispered under my breath.
"Of course it will be sweetie." Aribeth lowered her sunglasses, " I know it's been a rough couple of weeks since Ret- its Pret- . Whatshitsface. But you are going on a much needed vacation. "
I smiled lightly. They always knew the best thing to say.
Charlotte is marching into the airport like she's ready for battle. I'm not sure who chose the red eye flight but let it be known it does not stop this quad espresso caffeinated diva from divide and conquer tactics.
"Ok ladies and Keith. We need to get through the TSA pre-check. Grab something for Aribeth before she bites someone's head off and make sure our luggage is checked in with no complications.
Everyone added their ticket to their Maggle wallets, yes?
Maybe we should have flown on a normal time flight.
No that would have throw off the entire schedule
How- ladies were up. Check in the bags
Keltin is really a higher send
Werven airlines are the best for long flights and the whole point of this trip is to not be stressed out about major things.
Now boarding Flight W304. Sara steps forward grabbing her carryon before slamming into a solid wall that felt like concrete.
Except there was a sense of heat and a smell that had a spicy aroma. If she could compare it was a smokey hickory scent with hints of vanilla.
"Ouch" I had to rub my nose to confirm it wasn't broken. Then I realized it was not in fact a concrete wall but a meat wall.......One that talked.
" Well miss you should probably watch your immediate vicinity before you walk. I understand your kind does not have the necessary... balance nor sturdiness needed to navigate the world. "
She paused and started a rapid blink.
I am so sorry I think my ears must have been damaged in crashing into your solid mass of misogyny. My kind? Are you trying to suggest that all females are inherently clumsy?
Also, I did not realize that my lack of ..what you call sturdiness gave way for you to be rude.
Sara squared up to the man. At six foot two, his broad shoulders started moving in a way that might be perceived as a laugh started throughout his body. The mid length hair swayed and his eyes held a glint of sadistic cruelty.
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed a man slowly trying to encroach in her circle of space. She held her bag tightly but never took her eyes off her opponent
Try it, mister, she thought.
I would -Sara stop flirting with the man and get in front of me.
She gasped and spun a full 180 with the grace of all those ballet lessons from her childhood.
I am not- I am not flirting with- Keith she sputtered. He laughed at her flustered self and held a hand out to grab.
I'm sorry good sir, you'll have to grab her number another time." and they boarded the plane.
Aribeth was shaking her head once they both sat down.
Who was telling who that this was supposed to be a relaxing trip?
Charlotte groaned while grabbing her eye mask and placing it on.
Someone, pleeeease, wake me once we land. I am in no mood to hear about how Sara was about to cause an international incident with the ambassador of Cedoria.
Wait? Wait. What ? Charlotte, Sara screamed in a whisper but the woman was already asleep.
She turned to Keltin but paused at the smirk on his face. "You know, there are better ways to achieve your hot girl summer. "
Huffing she settled in and rolled back her head hoping that the night was not about to be ruined. What made it worse was the male had sat directly across the aisle with that stupid smirk still plastered on his face.
Ambassador's POV
I have not seen such a powerful ward since the Mirji Rebellion. I signal to my guards for a tail. I would have investigated more but the ice dragon blocked my advances.
Unknown, Proceed with caution. I signaled to my men.
Wait? Wait. What ? Charlotte!
Though from the looks of it she seems slightly unaware herself.
I turn but not before seeing the blue iris of her 'protector'
Some secrets indeed
