Maingay. Magulo. Madaming tao.
Pero maganda
Ito ang bumungad saakin pagkaapak ko sa Athens, the heart of Mageia. More like the throbbing, overcrowded aorta of a giant, chaotic beast. I mean, it's beautiful, I'll give them that. But beautiful in a my-eyes-are-watering-from-the-exhaust-fumes kind of way
Ito ang pinakacentro ng buong Mageia. Then there's Lumina, the modern city. Like, they have the same infrastructure as Athens. Land full of Mystics, ika nga.
And then there's Alba. The poor land. I'm not even kidding. I heard they have the most records of robbers in the whole Mageia. It's a tough life, but hey, at least they're not stuck in Celestia. My home. The rich land. Where everyone's so rich they've forgotten how to have fun. It's basically a giant, gilded cage.
The buildings are so tall they make me feel like a tiny, insignificant ant. The food, though? That's a different story. I could live off of Athenian street food alone, no problem.
Tahimik akong naglalakad sa maingay na kalsada, trying to ignore the guy who's trying to sell me a lucky charm. Seriously, who needs a charm when you're the descendants of Hades? More like a protective barrier around the academy.
Sweet, fluffy, delicious waffles. My inner child screams with joy. I'm a sucker for a good waffle.
"Bili na, magandang binibini!" A tiny voice chirps from behind me. I turn around, but there's no one there.
Mukha lamang siyang sampung taon. He's wearing a stained apron and a chef's hat that's way too big for his head.
"I want waffles" Nakangiti itong tumango saakin, and within minutes, he's handing me two perfectly made waffles.
How unfair life is.
The gate is even more impressive up close. I can't help but feel a little intimidated.
I take a bite of my waffle, trying to calm my nerves. I look up, and there he is, ang tila dagat niyang mga mata. Ilang segundo akong natigilan habang nakatitig pabalik sakanya. He's staring at me like I'm some kind of alien.
"Good afternoon, young lady. May I see your paper?" A guy in a black uniform steps in front of me.
"Uhm, I didn't bring one" I composed my self bago sumagot
Tiningnan ko ito mula ulo hanggang paa. Guard ba sya? Oh my greek.
