Shivani's POV
"How unfortunate for you that I caught you" I whispered, a wicked grin splitting my face.
Talk about a bad day for a fish, right?
"But hey, at least you're tasty, so congrats" I mumbled, habang nginunguya ang sinubo kong kapiraso.
I mean, what else is a fish gonna do, right? Write a memoir? I believe its purpose is to make me full
Maybe I should try that next time. Or, siguro kapag wala na akong allowance, I could sell those fish sa bayan.
"Nice idea, Shivani," I whispered, giving myself a mental pat on the back.
Napabuntong hininga ako habang hawak ang aking tyan. I wouldn't be able to eat another bite, not even if it was a plate of golden-fried unicorn wings.
"That's why I love midnight hours" I thought
He was so busy with it, that he didn't even notice me.
"You'd be more surprised if he did look at you, Shivani. What a thought" bulong ko at bahagyang iniling ang aking ulo
Bubuksan ko na sana ang pinto, but then, my mom's voice stopped me.
"Anak, where have you been? I left your food on the table" she said, sounding worried. As if she should be worried. She was wearing pajamas and her hair a mess. She looked like she'd just woken up from a nap, which was probably the case, malamang siguro dahil gabing gabi na
Umupo ako sa foam cushion sa may bintana, my little nest for watching the night sky.
It was like the stars were whispering comforting things to me.
I leaned back, hinayaan kong lamunin ako ng mga iniisip ko
....
"Monster ka, Shishi" the voices hissed, their whispers slithering through my dreams like a pack of particularly dramatic snakes.
"We're not your friends. You'll kill us" sigaw nila
Napabalikwas ako ng bangon habang habol ang aking hininga, and I swear I could hear my own heartbeat echoing in the silence of my room.
"Hindi ko rin sila bati"
"Hmp" napanguso ako habang inaalala ang paulit ulit kong panaginip
I wiped away the tears that had welled up in my eyes. I mean, who cries in their sleep? It's just embarrassing.
Who else would be so thoughtful?
I spent almost an hour in the bathtub, mabuti nalamang at lumubog ang ulo ko sa tubig kung kaya't nagising ako
"Hmm? What should I wear today?" I was planning on returning to the forest, so I decided on my favorite black fitted shorts. Not too short, not too long. Perfect for running, or maybe even a little light sword-fighting. I paired them with a black fitted top.
I surveyed my reflection in the mirror. The fitted clothes hugged my curves, exposing my figure. "What a beautiful monster" I whispered, a smirk playing on my lips.
Just as I was about to leave, my eyes fell on a white envelope resting on my bed. In the center, a small golden object gleamed.
I hadn't even opened it yet, but I already knew what was inside.
I picked up the envelope, tracing my finger along the golden logo of Mageia Academy. How beautiful it was. Yet, I had never dreamed of receiving a letter from them.
I opened the envelope, hoping against hope that it wasn't what I thought it was.
But my gut was right.
Inside was a letter of invitation to join the academy.
Because they had discovered that I was a direct descendant of Hades.
This was not how I planned to spend my day.
