Marlin swam around in the fishbowl. He didn't exactly remember how he ended up there this time. A strip club. He had nothing better to be doing. He had no one that would be wanting to see him right now. He sighed to himself, watching the bubbles float up to the surface and pop. He listened to the DJ as he announced a familiar name. Darrel Curtis. He had been here almost every night, and almost every time, he had heard that name. He had never really paid attention to what had had looked like however. Marlin turned his attention to the stage as he slowly came to a stop swimming. He watched as the human man walked out from the back in his revealing clothing. The fish's eyes widened as he watched the man willingly go up to the pole, dancing around. People loved it, throwing money at him as the man went faster as he could. He whistled to himself. The things he could be doing with those kinds of moves..

It was about an hour later where he finally saw the famous Darrel leaving. Marling had an idea. He saw him ever so often, has was sure Darrel had to have seen him once. Maybe he even had a good opinion on him. The fish jumped it head out of the fish bowl, splashing water over at him and yelling out his name over the loud music.

"Darrel!"

The human boy jolted his head over to where the water had hit him. That was weird. He slowly tensed up his body, hesitantly shuffling his feet over to him. He had never seen.. a fish in the club before. He looked over at a fish tank they had at the edge of the club.*

"Did the owner see you on the final days and sell you to some kid little fella?"

He smiled a bit. Marlin however got frustrated at that comment. Sure, he was a fish, but he wasn't a little fella. He had a kid! Something he thought this man would never be asked to have with any women. The fish slapped more water out of his bowl, sinking further into the bowl in order to be filled with water.

"I'm not.. a kid."

He shot a glare at the human. Darry took a step back, loosing his breath for a moment. Had he been overworking himself so much he had started to go crazy? Was that fish.. talking? No way. He took the small step back forward, knelling down to be eye to eye with the fish. He noticed how low the water level had gotten from splashing his water at him. Although he didn't enjoy being splashed with water, he knew he had to help this fish. If it could talk, that meant it had a conscious. It would definitely know if the man had left him for dead.

"You uh.. need a water refill there buddy?"

He looked back down at the fish in his face. He felt silly talking to the fish, and probably looked even sillier to bystanders. The fish didn't seem to notice the worry the older had on his face. He was going to take this moment. This was probably the most anyone had ever cared for him besides his son.

..

HIS SON.

He had been so caught up in everything he forgot about his son. He knew he promised Nemo he could come home. He almost felt bad lying. But, if this man was offering to fill up his bowl, he was going to say yes. And being the only human he had ever interacted with.. he thought that the simply question could possibly lead a bit further than just knowing each other. The fish nodded, which brought his head above water. He quickly stopped diving down to the glass bottom.

"Yes sir."

The human had no time to waste as he picked up the fish. He couldn't waste much time. He had to get home to his kid brothers. He quickly made his way over to the nearby sink, making sure to be careful of the fish in his hands. Very slowly, he placed the bowl in the sink. He very carefully turned on the water to not overfill it or harm the fish.

Once the bowl was back at it's usual level, he turned the sink off. He looked at the fish. The fish looked back at him. He opened his mouth to talk, hesitating for a while. Would a human like him go out with a fish? He decided to take the chance. The worst he could say was no or run away.

"Will you.. go out with me?"

The human mans eyes widened. A fish. FISH. Had just asked him out. He felt so inclined to shakes his head, but on the other hand.. it was something new. He turned his back to the fish, smiling at him over his shoulder.

"Sure. I'll meet you back here tomorrow at 8."

Darry turned away and walked out, leaving the fish in the sink, in his bowl. He sighed and smiled to himself.
