The next morning I got out of bed to get ready for the day.

Brian would check the few remaining scraps that were left from my apparent car accident after breakfast and after that he wanted to take me to the physio again.

But I wanted to see Miss Smith before that.

Something felt off yesterday, I wasn't sure what but I wanted to try talking to her without anyone else present.
I just couldn't get the image out of my mind of her blinking so much, she seemed to be in a panic.
But why?

I crept down the hall as quietly as I could with my crutches.

"Good morning little mouse. You're up early..."

I froze hearing the surprised voice of Dr. Mitchell behind me.

Where did he come from?

I turned around smiling at him.

"Good morning, doctor. Yes, I'm getting more energy and felt like stretching my legs a bit. That's alright isn't it?"

"Of course, just don't overdo it. We don't want you to relapse. And try to remain on this floor. The hospital is big, I'd hate for you to get lost."

A flash from my nightmares popped up in my head.

Long endless halls, running and maniacal laughter chasing me.

A shiver ran past my spine.
Why did that happen?
Dr Mitchell didn't say anything weird nor did he sound different from usual, still I got this uneasy feeling.

"Are you okay little mouse? You look... worried?"

He gave me a reassuring smile and the feeling faded as fast as it came.

"I dunno. Sometimes I just get a really strange feeling. Like something's wrong. It makes no sense, right?"

I asked, getting a little nervous seeing the look on his face change, what if something is really wrong?
He pushed his glasses further up his nose seemingly thinking about something.

"Just a feeling, or are you seeing things that aren't there?"

"How would I know that? I'm not seeing pink elephants if that's what you mean..."

It wasn't like I saw things I knew couldn't be there.
Dr. Mitchell snorted softly for a second.

"I suppose it would be hard to know if things don't look out of order. Let's assume for now the weird feeling is all you have. Very well, please let me know if it becomes more than just a feeling. Enjoy your walk."

He nodded politely and turned to enter one of the patient rooms.
I guess he was on his morning route.
Alright, I still have some time before Brian will bring my breakfast so I better get going.
I walked into Miss Smith's room trying not to make too much noise in case she was sleeping.
Her face was turned towards the window so I couldn't see if her eyes were open or not.
When I saw her face I was relieved to see she was awake, that meant I probably wasn't disturbing her.

"Hi."

I announced myself to her, seeing her eyes turn towards me while her face stayed in the same position.
To make it easier for her I walked more into her line of sight.

"Is it okay if we talk a little?"

She stared at me without responding, I just couldn't help it, it felt so creepy it made me nervous.

"Sorry I know you can't talk. But I was wondering if I could ask you some questions. I was hoping to understand you a bit better. Yesterday you looked a bit panicked when you started blinking so much, I was just wondering what was wrong and if I could help?"

Suddenly she blinked, once.
Yes?

"I can help?"

I asked confused as I saw her blink once again.
It made no sense, she said everything was okay yesterday when Brian asked.

"Were you scared yesterday?"

The question was more of a guess then anything else but again Miss Smith blinked once, as she continued to stare at me.

"Are... are you scared now?"
