"Where is Y/n?"

The question sounded foreign, but maybe that was just my adrenaline clouding over my senses. I didn't say anything, though I probably should have.

"Answer the fucking question." The man reached to his side, drawing out a knife with a 5 inch blade. My heart stopped when I saw it, my eyes drifting to the reflection on the blade.

"I don't think I will." I said coldly, trying to mask the fact I was definitely to keep my heart rate steady. The man snickered before plunging the blade into my thigh.

My instincts took over, a loud scream erupting from my lips. With staggered breaths I looked down at the knife buried into my leg, just above my kneecap.

"Keep being a smart ass, see how far it gets you." He retorted, slowly turning the blade in my flesh. I stifled another yell, only letting out pained grunts and heavy breaths. I locked eyes with the man again, my hands clasped tightly behind me.

"You'll have to do better than that." I scoffed lightly, trying to keep my composure. I heard the door open behind me again, this time with the sounds of grunts and then a body thrown to the ground.

I heard labored breathing behind me, one's of someone trying to keep their lungs in working condition. I couldn't see behind me, so I couldn't tell who was just thrown in.

"This one was very adamant on getting to you." The male in front of me spoke, walking around to behind me. I heard signs of struggle as the man dragged a limp body into my field of view. He dropped it at my feet, my eyes scanning over the body.

Soap.

I tried to lunge forwards in my chair, only to be stopped by the ropes tying me up. I stifled a groan from the sharp pain in my leg. Soap looked like shit, his face beaten and bruised, a bullet wound in his side. I knew I had seen him get shot.

"Soap.." I breathed out. "What the hell did you do to him?!" My tone was sharp, ignoring the shooting pain in my leg.

"Fixed him." The guy scoffed, grabbing hold of the collar of Soaps jacket to haul him up enough to see his face. He held his jaw tight in his other hand, forcing him to meet my gaze. I didn't recognize the man I looking at me. He wasn't the same old Soap I'd arrived here with however long ago that was now. Something has changed.. for the worse.

"It's extraordinary isn't it." The guy mused, dropping Soap back to the ground. "What some pain will do to a man." He hummed, kicking Soap in the side, the male writhed in pain on the floor.

"Get the fuck away from him!" I barked out, trying to get loose to no avail. The man turned his attention towards me, a sinister smirk displayed across his lips. I held his gaze as he stalked closer, crouching down to my level.

"Where is Y/n." He spoke slowly, hand slowly wrapping around the handle of the knife. A shooting pain coursed through my thigh, he leaned his weight onto the handle.

"Fuck you!" I choked out, clenching my jaw so tight I swore my teeth would break. He let out a low chuckle and suddenly pulled the blade out of my leg and brought it to my throat. I felt the sharp edge press against my Adam's apple, I tried to flinch away only for him to grab me by the back of my head. I hissed softly, trying to remain calm.

"I'll cut your fucking tongue out, do you understand me?" He growled, speaking through gritted teeth. "You don't seem to understand who I am, so let me paint you a fucking picture." He shoved me back, the tip of his blade sliding across my neck.

He grabbed hold of Soap, forcing him to his feet and pressed the blade against his throat. My heart dropped, watching as Soap tried to maintain eye contact with me. Blood dried beneath his nose, bruises on his cheekbone.

"Either you tell me where the bitch is, or I execute this dumb mother fucker, and then kill you." His eyes never left mine, the blade of his knife pressed firmly against Soaps throat. Time stood still as I considered my options; Give away Y/n.. or get them both killed only for the fucker to find her anyway.

*Flash Back*

The ride felt endless, my body rocking with the movement of the plane anytime we were met with turbulence. The tension was thick, as it always was before a mission like this. I honestly didn't know what we were here doing, all I knew is I wanted out of that damn base and away from Y/n.

Soap sat beside me, messing with the scope of his gun. Nobody in the cabin dared to speak, most were lost in thought, others were silently praying to themselves. I'd given that up years ago, what type of God would let shit like war happen? What divine being would punish someone for the act of disbelief? Those were the kinds of thoughts that consumed me when I was buried alive. The entire time I was tortured I'd wondered if I was being punished for the things I'd did.. more accurately the things I hadn't done.

"Lieutenant." Soap cleared his throat, snapping me out of my trance. I shifted my eyes to look at him, followed by a nod of acknowledgment.

"I asked why you joined us." He spoke again, my eyes drifted down to the ground again as I recalled the argument with Y/n. I shifted in my seat and shrugged, trying to remain nonchalant.

"You know me, I don't believe in recovering." My tone was stiff, yet sarcastic. I saw him crack a smile before rolling his eyes.

"So it has nothing to do with you and Y/n?" He pried further. If any other soldier would've done something like this, I would've reprimanded them. But it was Soap.. a good friend of mine.

"Why do you care anyway?" I scoffed softly, crossing my arms over my chest. I hated airing out my problems, I much rather preferred to keep things to myself. It meant nobody else had to bear my burdens.

"Because I have never seen you be so.. not you around someone. I don't know how to explain it man, but.. I can tell she brings out a different side of you." He muttered, leaning closer so the other men wouldn't hear.

"Perhaps a better side." He added quietly, eyes drifting down to his gun as he straightened his posture. I hated that he was right, she'd brought a side me out that I hadn't ever seen before. A side I didn't even know existed.

"Whatever it is going on between you two, you need to figure that shit out. Girls like her.. they come once in a life time."

"You mean batshit crazy?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

"Sure, she could use some work. But I've never met a more loyal woman in my life. That girl would take a bullet for you in a heart beat." He argued, giving me a warning look. I lowered my gaze and sighed softly.

Maybe he was right.. no I knew he was right. God I hated that he was right.

"Whatever.. I'll- I'll talk to her when we get back."
