Chapter Two: Still here?

A.N: This chapter isn't the best so I apologise in advance. 😅😅

3rd person POV:

Lloyd wrenched his eyes open. His head was throbbing mercilessly and small lights popped in and out out of focus as he struggled to sit up. "Thank God T̄hạ̀w k̄heīyw, your all right,". A soft pair of hands supported the boy as he leant against a nearby shop-front. The group was in the Crossroads, though he was unsure of how they all got there.

The voice had an owner, one olive skinned and ebony haired female. "Hey Nya" Lloyd weakly smiled. He was aching all over and more confused than a puppy in it's first snowfall, but the sight of the girl seemed to dull the edge of the pain slightly.

"Hey idiot. Are you injured anywhere? You were out for like two minutes," the girl fussed over him, examining his face and arms, her blue eyes soft as she finished her 'examination'. Once sure that the blonde was unharmed she pulled him into a firm hug. Arms wrapped tightly around his back in a spine-cracking embrace.

However the hug was lacking; there was no third set of arms to envelop the two. No taller male to rest his chin upon their heads and mock them about their heights. There was no Kai. "Nya?" the blonde spoke up. "Yeah Lloyd?"
"Where's Kai? Shouldn't he be here?" her arms tensed around him, her breath catching ever so slightly. "Lloyd," she paused "Kai.. He got pulled into a MergeQuake and they haven't reopened yet. But they will - I'm sure of it. Then we'll have the third Smith sibling with us!".

Her words were full of forced hope, though they brought images to the front of Lloyd's clouded mind. The sight of Kai bleeding on the ground; the picture of him being pulled away to who knows where. The younger stood straight, eyes shining with raw emotion; "Yeah.. We'll get them all back, I know it"

Nya nodded and turned to where the rest of the group were located. Arin and Sora stood huddled together, arms wrapped around the other's shoulders for support as they stressed about their friends, taken by the cruel Empress in her tyrannical attempt at triumph across the realms.
Mr Frohicky and Zane were propped up against the nindroid's car, engrossed in a conversation. Both appeared unscathed though thoroughly shaken on the amphibian's end.

Lloyd pushed himself off the wall crossing the debris-littered square, though he didn't get far. Que the heavens opening. (Not really but it might as well have done). Enter the Chicken Little mindset.
Giant MergeQuakes fractured the calm sky, the portals widening and stretching like rubber as figures began to fall from their cavernous mouths. Bodies of tumbling people littered the airspace as they came crashing from the sky.

Ever the quick ones, the ninja sprang to life, their once sluggish bodies spurred on with the goal of saving others. Leaping like ballerinas they propelled themselves this way and that - relentlessly catching and releasing the fallen in a cycle of aching legs and flailing limbs.

At long last no more people were plummeting to their peril; Lloyd flopped to the ground beside Arin and Sora in exhaustion, the sky above him spinning in dizzying spirals. "Good job guys.. Feel free to just, lay down and.." he yawned "Rest". The blondes words were slurred and drowsy as he shut his eyes and drowned out the commotion coming from the group.

"Uhh sir-" Mr Frohicky began,
"Just leave him be Frohicky, it's not every day that you restore balance to the realms just to catch people falling from massive wormholes in the sky," stated Nya, a hand resting on the frog's shoulder. She said it so calmly, like this was infact a regular Tuesday activity for the group; though he supposed, it probably was.
