Chapter 25
Days passed by quickly.
With the help of Trevor, Jin and Zee, Mariano started to clear his name. He mostly had to be in the US to process some documents and assist his legal team, while I remain in Italy to recuperate. We will go back to the mansion once everything is settled.
Mariano decided that it would be better for me to stay here in case the Il Volo elders retaliate. As for my mother's sperm donor, honestly, I don't know what happened to him, and I do not plan to know. He can die in a ditch and I wouldn't care. I still haven't forgotten how I had to be placed in an induced coma just to save my baby bean.
It has been five days since Mariano left for the US but we are updating each other constantly. It was a good thing that the time difference is not that big so I can call him within the day and make sure that he also gets some rest.
"How's my baby? Although I love our bean, I'm talking about you, Arden," Mariano spoke when he sat down in front of his laptop, the beautiful blue hues of the morning dawn spread out in the skyline as his background. He set down his cup of coffee and dried his hair.
"I just finished my snacks, and we are doing well. How about you?" I noticed the dark circles around his eyes and I couldn't stop myself from worrying. "Do you even sleep? I know that pandas are adorable but it does not suit you, Mariano," I teased, and after three seconds, he guffawed. His eyes crinkled as he held his belly, releasing a hearty laugh.
"Oh, damn, baby. I needed that," he said with a pant, a soft smile on his lips. "I missed you so bad, Arden. I want to hug you, kiss you, and talk to our small bean," he said longingly, and I nodded.
"I missed you too. If we're not talking everyday, I would've thrown a tantrum until I wore Zee down and he flies me to you." It was a nice plan, and I almost attempted to execute it yesterday when I couldn't contact Mariano.
He wouldn't return my calls and I was panicking. Thankfully, Zee told me that Mariano was okay and he was just looking for his phone charger: the phone's battery was drained and Mariano's laptop was switched off.
"I know, Arden. Just a few more days, okay? I promise to wrap this matter asap. Why don't you tell me about your morning?" He leaned against his seat and took a sip of his coffee, his hair falling on the side of his face. I couldn't help the tingly sensations in my belly; he just looks so good right now and all I wanted was to wrap my arms around his shoulders.
When I vocalized it, Mariano choked on his coffee, a small blush painting his cheeks. He is so adorable and gorgeous.
I told him all about my mundane morning activities and he listened attentively. Then, he also shared what happened last night, that they are on the verge of executing a plan that will not only render the Il Volo elders penniless, but it could also put the elders behind bars forever. Mariano mentioned that Trevor will handle the fate of the elders while my boyfriend just needed to focus on clearing his reputation.
"Arden, it's nearing lunch. I'll call you at four again, after your afternoon nap, okay? Be safe always, baby. Till later."
"Okay, Mariano. I'll talk to you later. Always take care. We love you."
He grinned. "I love you both, especially you, my baby."
My cheeks heated up and ended the call before I said something stupid. I headed to the kitchen and saw Randall, Trevor's youngest and a kid I have never seen before. He was sitting close to Randall who was busy reading a thick, medical book.
His eyes were the same color as his hair: jet-black. His build was slightly larger than Randall and I could even see the height difference.
"Hey, Arden. What do you want to eat?" My attention was caught by Zee who was fixing something in the kitchen. I sat on the stool in the counter and took a peek.
