Nestled between two towering brick buildings in a bustling neighborhood of New York City, a coffee shop exuded a cozy charm that beckoned both tourists and locals. The exterior was adorned with a vintage sign reading "The Daily Grind" in elegant, hand-painted letters, and large bay windows framed by flower arches bursting with colors.
Sofia loved this coffee shop, reason why she had invited Adaline to meet her there after days of uninterrupted conversations. Through the large windows, the singer caught a glimpse of blazing ginger hair standing out against worn leather, she smiled. She took a second to breathe deeply before opening the painted glass door, the shop's warm and inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods immediately engulfing her.She stepped further inside the cafe, being met with a blend of rustic and modern aesthetics, with exposed brick walls, polished wooden floors, and a mix of comfortable seating options. That's where she found the actress, deeply focused on a poetry book. As the ginger-head was about to flip the page, Sofia flopped down on the worn leather couch beside her, startling the woman.
"Sofia!" She exclaimed, a warm smile stretching her pink lips as she put her book away in her tote bag still hanging by her shoulder.
"Adaline!" The singer replied in the same excited tone, shifting to face her friend. Now upclose, she could see just how green the actress' eyes were, like a shimmering forest."How are you?" The ginger-head asked, voice filled with warmth and friendliness. Her emerald eyes scanned over Sofia with attention, taking her in fully for the first time.
"Great and you?" Sofia replied with genuine interest, her enthusiasm matching her friend's. She shifted under Adaline's gaze, nervously getting up. The brunette had looked up to the actress for a while now, ever since she first saw her in a movie that completely changed her view of cinema, so, standing there before her made her incredibly nervous.
"Should we order something?" Sofia proposed. Adaline seemed to have caught on her nervousness.
"Sure! What would you recommend to me?" Her tone was soft and filled with gentleness, she rose from the couch, leaning closer to the brunette.Sofia scanned the chalkboard menus on the walls, thinking for a moment. "Well, their caramel macchiato is amazing, and if you're in the mood for something sweet, the lemon lavender scones are to die for." Adaline nodded appreciatively.
"That sounds perfect. I'll have those. And what about you?" She turned toward the singer.
"I think I'll go with my usual." Sofia said with a grin. "A hot chocolate and one of their almond croissants." She replied excitedly, mentioning her favorite food. They both approached the counter, the barista greeting them with a friendly smile. After placing their orders, they returned to their cozy corner, this time sitting on two plush chairs next to a low wood table. The café was calm, the atmosphere filled with the soft hum of conversations and the occasional clinks of coffee cups.
"So, how's the new album going? I heard a lot of good things about it." Adaline asked, settling into her chair. Sofia smiled widely, her eyes lighting up.
"It's going really well. The response has been amazing so far. I'm so glad people are connecting with the songs" She shifted to sit cross-legged on her own chair, her hands resting over her knees as she traced the star- shaped denim there.
"I'm not surprised at all," Adaline replied warmly. "Your music has this incredible way of touching hearts." Sofia blushed.
