“Great, I’ll see you tomorrow!” You call back to your coworkers and push the door open. As you trudge to your car, the late evening sun glows orange in the sky, reminding you of the long day in the office you just had. You’re ready to head home and relax on the couch. You start your car and roll down the windows for fresh air. After the 9-hour shift you just completed, it’s a pizza, wine and book night. You pull into your apartment parking lot and catch the familiar sight of your girlfriend’s car in the guest lot. A small smile crosses your face. She always knows when you need to see her. You hurry to park and grab your stuff before rushing to her car.
“Hi baby,” Ruby says, pulling you into her. She smells like Granny’s, coffee and cinnamon. You take a deep breath and allow the scents to wash over you, calming you. “How was your day?” Ruby steps back slightly to look at you, her eyes gazing adoringly into your eyes.
“It was okay, honestly. Minus the overtime to finish that project and Nick’s attitude, of course.” Ruby rolls her eyes, and you laugh. She hates Nick, almost more than you do. Since you started your position at the office, Nick has been the annoying bug in your ear. He constantly piles onto your workload since he’s technically your supervisor. “Don’t worry,” you say, pulling her closer. “Nothing I couldn’t handle. But why are you here? I thought you were working the late shift at Granny’s.” She smirks, looking around the parking lot. “Not that I don’t enjoy seeing you,” you add quickly.
“I,” She kisses your forehead. “Came,” She kisses your cheek. “To see you.” She finally captures your lips, keeping it slow and soft. Instantly, you melt into her, reaching out to pull her closer. She stops you though, pulling away. “At least invite me up first.” You laugh and pull away, leading her towards the door. You step into the lobby and wait for the elevator, catching Ruby’s hand.
Eventually, you make it to the 4th floor and into your apartment, the summer heat from the day hanging stale in the air. Dropping your things and removing your shoes, you open the windows to allow the evening coolness to seep in. “There, that should make it less stifling.” You turn back to Ruby, who’s petting Simba, your cat. He’s stretched completely out on the floor as she rubs his belly. “Can I grab you anything, Ruby?” She glances up at you with a small knowing glance in her eyes.
“I think I already have everything I need right in front of me.” She stands and crosses the room to you, pulling you into her. She crushes her lips against yours, fast and desperate like you’re the last drink of water in the desert. You match her intensity after a few moments of shock. She steps forward, pushing you backwards slowly until you manage to hit the wall. She braces her arms against the wall, her body radiating heat. Her tongue glides against your bottom lip, asking for entrance. You open to her, slightly moaning as her tongue dances over yours before exploring your mouth. She takes her time, slowing herself down to study every inch of your mouth until she finally pulls away, leaving you both panting hard.
“Wow,” you manage to say. “That was… intense.” She laughs and tucks a piece of hair behind your ear. The gesture sends shivers down your spine.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. I’ve missed you.”
“Never apologize for it. I love it.” She brings her hand up to your face, cupping your cheek. You lean into the touch, closing your eyes. Ruby runs her thumb over your bottom lip before pulling away. Your eyes snap open from the lack of contact. “Baby, where are you going?” You start to pout.
“Patience, Y/N. Why don’t you go make yourself comfortable in the bedroom?” She says, moving back towards her bag near the door. “I’ll meet you in there shortly.” You nod, nervous but excited at what Ruby has planned. You move into the bedroom and adjust a few things before sitting on the bed. You remove your flannel shirt and smooth out your tank top. Despite working in an office, the environment is fairly relaxing and chill. Fridays are casual dress days. After a few moments, Ruby appears in the doorway. One of her hands is hidden behind her back, holding something out of your view.
