The snowfall lessened when Noah stopped the car at the airport. Anya exhaled and unlocked the seatbelt. Snowflakes landed on the windshield, soft as a lover's kiss. Smiling, she grabbed her pink coat from the backseat.
"They've arrived," Noah announced, laughing.
Anya looked behind and noticed her parents, Taylor, and her father-in-law's cars.
"Did you have to race?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"When you're going somewhere as a group, and each driver is as competitive as the other, it becomes a race."
"Who will drive our car home?"
"Sean, he hitched a ride with Taylor."
Nodding, Anya said, "Okay, let's go."
They both stepped down. Their families and friends, tightening their coats or parkas, joined them. Noah bumped fists with Sean and tossed him the key.
Smiling, he ordered, "Take good care of my baby."
"Don't worry about it. You will still own a car dealership even if I crashed it," Sean joked, except Noah's father frowned at the statement.
Placing their luggage on the trolley, the whole family moved inside. Kiara rushed and looped her arm around Anya's.
"Maldives, huh," she teased. "Who picked the honeymoon destination?"
"I did," Anya replied. "The weather in February is better compared to here. No more coats, gloves, and chunky scarves."
"How long will you be there?" Taylor asked, joining her on the other side.
"Two weeks"
"What adventures are you planning to do?" Kiara asked.
"Sunbathing on the gorgeous beaches, boat rides, eating as much diverse food as possible, I'll relax."
"That's it," Taylor expressed.
"I'm not big on thrill sports. You know me."
"Noah is."
"I'll never stop him from swimming with sharks or dangling in the air from a parachute. But it's not my cup of tea."
Chuckling, Kiara assured, "Don't worry, Anya. You have married a good guy. He'll never force you to do anything you don't desire."
She smiled and glanced at him. Noah had some conversation going on with Sean while he pushed the trolley. Their parents were walking behind, bantering.
"Okay, we'll wait here," Kiara said, letting her go when they approached the check-in counter.
Anya removed their passports from her new Versace handbag, one of the hundreds of wedding gifts from her one-week-old husband. She tugged some hair behind her ear and looked for Mona. Anya had texted her before leaving the house. Maybe she is still stuck with some work, or Mona would have already come to say goodbye.
"Is this all?" The lady asked.
"Yes," Noah replied.
She handed them their passports and boarding tickets. They have about half an hour to spend with their dear ones before leaving.
"Should we get something hot to drink?" Noah asked the group.
Considering the chilled weather going outside, everyone agreed with him. This time, his father walked next to him, engaging in a more hush talk.
