Beholden
You held so tightly to
what remnant of my spirit remained
Grasped tightly
Muscles tensed
Jaw set
Feet planted firmly
Although upon my shaky groundYou held me
Stood there
Wiped the blood from my lip
Kissed the tears
And wiped away the sweat
Holding my head to your chest
You cared for me.I in my weakness
Have looked for peace
And found only despair
Now as I am
Hurting
And bleeding
I look down
Fearing your judgement
But you tilt my chin
Looking deeply into my eyes
My soul
To softly whisper
I was always here.
