[Rika's POV]

Fifteen days had passed since the Final Selection, and the anticipation in Tengen's house was palpable. My two long knives, eagerly awaited, had finally arrived. The swordsmith responsible for crafting them was a highly respected artisan named Katsuhiro Tokai. His skill was renowned among the Demon Slayer Corps, and I felt a thrill of excitement as I prepared to see the results of his craftsmanship.

Although Tengen was away on a mission, his three wives—Suma, Makio, and Hinatsuru—had gathered in the house to witness the unveiling of my new weapons. Their presence provided a comforting sense of family, and I was grateful for their support.

When Katsuhiro arrived, he carried my two knives with reverent care. As he unwrapped them, I could barely contain my excitement. The moment the cloth fell away, I gasped. The blades were stunning—each one perfectly balanced and gleaming with a silvery sheen. Slowly, as I held them, the color of the blades began to shift to a warm amber hue, reflecting my mastery of Sound Breathing.

The wives' reactions were heartfelt. Suma's eyes filled with tears as she gazed at the beautiful weapons, clearly overwhelmed by emotion. "Rika, they're amazing! Two years flew like they were nothing! that's unfair" she said, her voice breaking with pride.

Makio placed a hand on my shoulder and gave me a reassuring smile. "Always be careful out there. Your training has prepared you, but you'll face many challenges."

Hinatsuru, her eyes shining with affection, added, "You've grown so much, don't be selfless okay? We're all so proud of you."

The three of them enveloped me in a warm hug, their pride and love evident in their embrace. I felt a wave of gratitude and warmth, knowing that their support meant everything to me.

[Author's POV]

As Rika stood there, surrounded by her new blades and the warm embrace of Tengen's wives, it was clear that her journey had been nothing short of extraordinary. It was easy to forget that she hadn't always been a part of this world. In reality, Rika had died in her previous life at the tender age of fourteen due to starvation. She had been given a second chance in the world of her favorite anime by a higher power, and she had embraced it with a determination that was truly inspiring. Though she had forgotten the specifics of her transition to this world, it was clear that her purpose here was far from over.

[Rika's POV]

After the heartfelt farewell from Tengen's wives, I was still basking in the joy of my new blades when a raven flew into the house, carrying an important message. The bird landed gracefully, and I unrolled the scroll attached to its leg. The mission was written in neat, precise characters.

Mission: Investigate and Eliminate the Demon Terrorizing the Village of Harukawa

The village of Harukawa had been plagued by a powerful demon for weeks. The villagers reported sightings of a demon with the ability to control shadows, using them to ambush and attack unsuspecting victims. This demon wasn't an Upper Moon or a Lower Moon, but it was formidable nonetheless, possessing strength and cunning that had left the village in a state of constant fear.

My task was to travel to Harukawa, investigate the demon's activities, and eliminate it to restore peace to the village. The mission required careful planning and strategy, as the demon's ability to manipulate shadows made it a tricky opponent.

After preparing my gear and reviewing the mission details, I felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension. This would be my first major assignment, and I knew it would test everything I had learned. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the challenge ahead.

The next morning, I set out for Harukawa, my new blades by my side. The journey was long and arduous, but I was determined to face it with the courage and resolve that had brought me this far. As I approached the village, I could feel my heart pounding with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. I knew the stakes were high, and the pressure to succeed was immense.

The sun dipped below the horizon as I entered the forest surrounding Harukawa. The shadows seemed to stretch and elongate, their dark tendrils reaching out like grasping fingers. My senses were on high alert, and every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig sent a jolt of fear through me.

I gripped my new knives tightly, feeling their comforting weight in my hands. Suddenly, a chilling laugh echoed through the trees, and dark, shifting shadows began to converge around me. My breath hitched as I saw the demon emerge from the darkness—a tall figure cloaked in shadow, eyes glowing a menacing red. The sight was both awe-inspiring and terrifying.

"So, another Slayer has come to challenge me. How amusing," the demon's voice was a whisper that seemed to seep into my bones.

I charged at the demon, my blades slicing through the air with precision. The demon's form dissolved into shadows, avoiding my strikes with unsettling ease. Fear clenched at my heart as the shadows reformed behind me, and I barely managed to block the attack with my knives. The force of the blow sent me sprawling to the ground, my breath coming in ragged gasps.

"Is that all you've got?" the demon taunted. Its shadows surged around me like a storm, wrapping around my arms and legs with a crushing grip. I struggled to free myself, my heart racing with a mix of fear and determination. Every time the shadows tightened, I felt a jolt of panic, the fear of being overwhelmed threatening to consume me.

Summoning all my strength, I managed to sever the tendrils with a series of desperate slashes. My fear was a tangible presence, but I forced myself to focus. I couldn't afford to let it control me. Using my Sound Breathing techniques, I unleashed a barrage of powerful shockwaves, trying to drive the shadows back.

The demon hissed in frustration, its form becoming more solid as it prepared for a counterattack. I felt a surge of fear as the shadows coiled around me again, this time more aggressively. My breathing was ragged, and my movements were starting to slow. I had to dig deep to find the strength to keep fighting.

The battle was grueling. The demon's agility and shadow manipulation kept me on edge, and I found myself constantly adapting to its attacks. Every time I thought I had a moment of respite, the demon would reappear from the shadows, launching a new assault. The fear of failure gnawed at me, but I pushed through, determined to protect the village and prove myself.

Exhausted and on the brink of collapse, I knew I had to end this fight. Summoning every last ounce of energy, I focused on a final, decisive attack. With a cry of determination, I unleashed a powerful combination of Sound Breathing techniques, sending shockwaves of intense energy through the forest. The air vibrated with the force of the attack, and the shadows wavered under the onslaught.

The demon's form flickered and wavered, its shadowy cloak unraveling. It let out a final, anguished roar before collapsing into a pile of darkness. I stood over it, panting heavily, my knives still at the ready. The weight of fear and exhaustion seemed to lift as the forest fell silent. I had won, but the battle had taken a toll on me.

Returning to Harukawa, I was met with tears of relief and gratitude from the villagers. Their thanks were heartfelt, and I felt a deep sense of fulfillment knowing I had made a difference. The fear I had felt during the battle had been immense, but it had also strengthened my resolve. I had faced the darkness and emerged victorious.

As I made my way back to Tengen's house, I was eager to share the details of my mission with his family.
