I woke up early in the morning and made him coffee, black exactly how he liked it. I remember the coffee machine being extra loud that day. It was way too early and the clouds had settled over the field just beyond the window. The air felt thick. I took the steaming cup of coffee over to his room and let myself in. Sitting next to him on the bed I woke him up.

"Curien." I gently nudge his shoulder. "I brought you coffee.

His eye cracked open and he sat up stretching. The pit in my stomach was ever growing. I handed Curien the coffee. It was quiet, he had oly taken one sip. But his hair hung off of his face in the morning. And how he had a pillow imprint from how deeply he had slept. I stared at him for a moment and then I went in and kissed him. Words could probably have done the same, but I wanted it. I wanted to feel him. The only thing I can't remember is how his lips felt on mine. Oh how I wish I could remember. He leaned back in shock.

"It's too early for this Lian" His eyes are still only halfway when he flashes me a smile.

"I couldn't wait any longer, Curien I think I am in love with you." I was so young my face probably lit up like an idiot. I only wish I could know how Curien saw me that day. What he would've thought.

He placed his coffee down on the table and we kissed. And kissed. And kept kissing. Next thing I knew the sun had fully awoken and Curien lay shirtless on my chest. I remember his smell. He smelt of cinnamon and flowers. Or maybe coffee and musk. All of the above. Now the idea of it makes me want to cry. After we had awoken and the day progressed He had confessed his feelings as well. We promised we would marry each other someday. I know we were young and stupid. But I truly thought we would.

We had decided to leave the house and go for a walk to the bakery. Curien wanted to buy me my favorite treat. It was his idea, and what a stupid idea it was. As we began crossing the main street a car quickly came around the corner. Just like that it hit him. I can't remember his lips but I remember the rubber smell, when the car realized it couldn't brake fast enough. I remember the blood on the ground and Curien not moving. And I remember the man who hit him getting out of the car. And the last thing I remember is my gun in my hand and the man on the ground; his wife sitting over him crying. Laura sitting over him crying.

I was given my position as enforcer on false pretenses. I was given the job because I would kill without hesitation for my fellow members. But that wasn't the case. The only man I wouldn't hesitate for was him.

After that he was in a coma for three years. Sitting in a hospital bed, I couldn't bring myself to see him after he woke up. Until that day at the restaurant. Who knew he would become a waiter.

...

I came back to reality, tears streaming down my face.

I spit blood out of my mouth "You sick bitch. I should've killed you too."

She looks at me and laughs. "All men are the exact same. You would kill an innocent family for a coworker. Did you just want someone to take your anger out on? To blame for your pain."

"I don't owe you an explanation." She laughed again.

"Well now I'm taking something of yours. And just as a precaution." She stood up with a needle. I tried to get myself loose but I couldn't shake the rope. I needed more time. Just like that a cold wet feeling pierced into my eye. All I saw was gray on the left field of vision. It was a pain worse than being shot. I began screaming in agony, almost missing her steps as she walked away.

I know three things. One; she is going after Sho. Two; I have to fix my eye. Three; I have to find a way out of this room.

...

Starting with the first task. I need to get out of this chair. I wiggle and squirm to no avail, the pain everytime my eye moves further hinders my thinking. I can only think of one dire option. I don't have the mind to get out right now. I have to break the chair. I tilt myself up onto my toes, balancing the on my back. And with one fuid motion I spread my body out, increasing the tension and throwing myself backwards. Almost jumping into the ground. Just like that the chair broke and the rope came loose.

Next step, finding bandages, or something to clean my eye. Fuck. I cant even move my eyes without this damn needle lodging further. I rummage around and find a first aid kit tucked in with her tools. With some force I pull the needle out and compress the wound. Then I tape over it sealing it in place. Preying it congeals. Unaware of how I look I take myself and run out the door.

I need to find Sho.
