Finders Keepers

We pull up at Sho's hotel hoping to find something to go off of. Curien insisted on driving so we arrived much quicker. His slick black BMW was not only inconspicuous, but decently fast.

Using Curiens phone I called Sho several times but to no avail. He is silent, I also called his employer who explained he has not shown up in the last week. Tensions rose so here we are. I have an extra key in my wallet, I pray he's there. Fuck Sho. Why did he have to be so difficult? If something happened to him I would, I don't know what I would do.

The door clicks and we walk into Sho's room. Everything looks to be in order.

"Sho!" I call.

"Sho! I'm coming in!" No answer.

"Quite the hotel, you put him up in this place?" A smug look crosses his face.

"In fact I did. He needed a place to stay." We begin rummaging through the room looking for something to point us in a direction. We make our way into the bedroom and open the door.

There he was sound asleep.. in the bathtub. I chuckled in conjunction with my sigh of relief. Sho held a pillow and filled it with blankets. Not sure why, but all that matters is that he is safe. Curien leaned up against the doorframe.

"He sure is cute when he's sleeping. I can tell what you see in him."

I throw him a look of disapproval.

I walk up against the tub and rest my palm against his head.

"Hey Sho. It's time to wake up."

The pillow fell against the tub as he sat up.

Rubbing his eyes he whined "Lian I was waiting for you." Quickly the mood changed over. "Wait that is the waiter from the restaurant."

"About that-" I am interrupted by Curien

"In case you forgot, my name is Curien. Long time friend of your pal here. I heard you work with law enforcement." His hand moved closer reaching to touch sho. I quickly stuck my arm out stopping him "I am just messing" He leans back on the counter. "What are you doing out here with a man like Lian? Wouldn't your buddies be a little upset knowing you are messing around with a Red Eye member."

"Quit it Curien." I snip attempting to get him to back off. "We are here to help you Sho, someone is after you."

"Is it the Lady from the bar?"

"How did you know?" I  replied.

"She showed up to my hotel demanding a key to the room. Luckily they stopped her but hence the bathtub." He rubbed his eye once again "Holy shit! Lain your eye. Is it okay!" He reaches for me grabbing the side of my face. At this point I am sitting on the floor beside the tub.

"I lost my eye, but it's alright, That's why I have another one."

"That's true I guess" Sho seemed almost disappointed with my response.

As Sho is touching my face I can see, with my one good eye, Curiens foot tapping against the ground with an anxious pace.

"Lets get going, we have to get you somewhere safe before we can take care of her."

Curien looks at me for a long time. He watches me get Sho up and out. He watches me gently pull him.

"If its a matter of safety I think we should let the authorities take care of him."

"What." I say. Not believing the man who used to work for Red Eye is discussing the helpfulness of authorities.

"Don't you see Lian. What would  happen if you did take him to safety" He started to get visual. "What would happen if he told his cop friends that a Red Eye member took him. Or better yet, what if they find out that his 'lover' just murdered a woman. Would Sho be an accomplice?" The three of us crammed into the tight bathroom all remain silent.

He did have a point. What if I did get Sho in trouble. What if the lady comes after him and I get framed. Or even worse, what if I can't protect him.

"Fine, you're right. You always are." but this time Curien didn't smile at my defeat. His face looked as if he lost his own battle as well.

"Sho I want you to call your job and say Laura Roberts is after you. She came by the hotel so she couldn't have gone too far."

"Okay I will" Sho mutters as he walks away to use the hotel provided phone.

Curien looks at the counter "Two toothbrushes ay." And before I can sputter another word his footsteps carry him away. Fuck. I don't know what to think. I gotta get this shit out of my head. I really need a drink.

The police came and picked up Sho to keep him safe while the suspect is on the loose. And now I guess in a way she is no longer my problem. My eye was still pretty fucked up so Curien took me to a buddy to get it taken care of. They had to remove the eye. For some reason this was really hard for me. Is really hard for me. Some months have passed. All I have heard from Sho is that he 'Needs some time' . Apparently he wanted some space knowing that I might interfere with his job. Whatever that means. EIther way I am on temporary eave until I can learn to shoot and operate with one eye.
