Corvina

"I'm tired, really, gotta go to sleep" I excused myself for my slytherin group that same night at dinner.

We all went to the three broomsticks, it was great, cute and charming place and butter beer was something new to try but honestly, the tension didn't let me enjoy it as I should. Pansy's hurt gaze with the angry and confused of the rest of the group made it uncomfortable, almost unbearable.

They didn't even asked anything and I knew they wanted to ask. No, they were trying to act as nothing happened. Theo was the only one acting normal towards me and I stuck with him for the rest of the day.

"we'll be at my doorm if you can't sleep, yeah?" Theo said with a charming smile and I nodded, returning the smile to the boy before I got out of the Great Hall, the halls were empty, people were out at Hogsmeade, at the great hall or somewhere hooking up or drinking, enjoying their Saturday night.
However, I was making my way towards the astronomy tower.

The events back at the alley still in my mind. The Riddles said their interest in my powers wasn't because of their father but because they're curious.

Marvelous, Tom had said but I don't trust them. No, they and their father are a danger to me and my family so team up with Potter and his friends should be the right thing to do, even my brother would be happy about it, I know that. They'll have to know about my powers but they're the right side, my parents would be proud of me for the first time in my life. So I have to do the right thing.

I climbed the stairs up to the top of the astronomy tower, empty since Potter and friends were nowhere to be seen at the great hall.
I observed the stars in the dark sky of this cold night, feeling shivers run through my whole body. I created a light with my hand, trying to make the place less darker. It's gorgeous and I enjoy the darkness but that's my way to let Potter know I'm already here.

I didn't know if I'm doing the right thing, I mean they're on the good side, the side my parents and grandparents were on and the side my brother would rather for me to be but it just did not feel right.

Should I be doing this?

"Ina" I turned around to find Harry, Hermione and Ron in front of me, observing the light coming out of my hand with surprise. I'm sure that's something a lot of witches and wizards can do but they still looked so shocked.

"how can you do that?" Hermione asked before I could do anything else. "wandless magic isn't taught here except in the restricted section"

"yeah, but it is in America, we did not require a wand there" I said with a shrug and make the light disappeared from my hand but that didn't do anything for them to look less stunned. "so what I wanted to talk about..."

"oh, yeah" Harry said and laughed awkwardly, giving a step towards me, closer to the rail of the tower. "we wanted to know why we're you ignoring us, you seemed a bit off earlier"

"it's simple and I'm sure you already knew, the Riddles, they threatened to hurt you if I kept talking to you, that's why" my eyes found Ron's, challenging him since he seemed so condensendent before. "I was trying to protect you guys"

"why?" Ron asked, still staring at me with doubt, I don't like him, really.

"why wouldn't I protect you?" I asked angryly "listen, I started some kind war with the Riddles..."

"a war? Why?" Hermione asked this time, getting closer to me.

"I have something they want Hermione, something they can't get or it could be the actual end of the Wizarding World and probably the muggles world. That's why I thought I may need your help since you have defeated Voldemort a couple of times already"

"what are you talking about?" Harry asked, his frowning made him look more sweet and cute. "What is this thing they want from you?"

I sighed and stared back at the sky, the constellations looking even more beautiful.

I'm doing the right thing.  Everyone here is afraid of the Riddles, no one will do anything against them or Voldemort but not Harry Potter and Friends, they're not scared. I need them by my side to protect my family and probably the world.

"my power" I said but Ron laughed making me look at him with anger and he stopped immediately.

"I'm sorry but what could possibly be 'your power' that the Riddles and Voldemort wants it"

"I can do things, Weasley, things that you probably wouldn't even think about it"

"we all here are witches and wizards, Scamander, why would they..." without even blink I made him scream with pain, his hands grabbing his head. I could see the little veins on his head become reddish and his body started to lose force, almost falling to the floor "what are you doing to me?!" and I stopped, he growled, trying to compose himself and his scared eyes found mine. "what the bloody hell?"

"I told you I can do things you wouldn't even think about" I simply shrugged and then looked at Harry and Hermione.

"you didn't even spoke or use your wand or..." Hermione was the first to say, her face red and full of surprise. "wandless magic and nonverbal I get it but what did you do to him?!, His veins were red and..."

"it's just one of many spells I can do, spells haven't ever been written, at least not that I know. Dark magic that should never get to the wrong hands and the Riddles are trying to find out how I do all of it..."

"and if they do and it gets to Voldemort..." Harry completed, his stare blank, lost in his thoughts.

"exactly, that's why I'm here" I said, my family it's the main reason but they don't have to know.

"what do you want us to do?" Hermione asked and I shook my head.

"honestly, I don't know" I confessed "I'm just worried because the Riddles tried to get in my mind earlier"

"but they didn't, right?" Harry asked, worry in his voice, finally his blue eyes looked at mine.

"no, they didn't"

"so you're good at occlumancy, that's good" Hermione said, I could see her mind working. "what I don't get it's how or why you can do that kind of spells, I don't think in Ilvermorny teach them"

"no, they don't, I was born like this and I been trying to find something about it my whole life, about those spells or the reason why but I haven't found anything. I don't know why I can do this" I sighed, resting my back  on the rail of the tower.

"I can help you looking" the blonde girl said with a shy smile "if we want to protect your powers from get to Voldemort, we need to understand them, to know what are you or how you have them. Tell me, what else you can do?"

She was right, I need to know how or why I have them but there's nothing about it. Not back in Ilvermorny and probably not in here but it's worth the try so I nodded.

"of everything I can do, there's one me and my family always called the most dangerous of them all. I can make your blood boil until you just die, massive desiccation, all those stuff"

"bloody hell, I believe you, don't have to prove it to me again" Ron grunted from beside Hermione, still massaging his temples. I chuckled, fair enough.

"are you sure you're an Scamander, Ina?" Hermione asked and my body froze.

I have never thought about it.
Of course I'm a Scamander, right?

"yeah, maybe you came from another bloodline, we could start there" Harry added and I shook my head.

"no, I'm a Scamander, I mean I have to be"

Hermione sighed before answering.

"We must exhaust all possibilities until we find something"
