AWAKENING

• • •

Parker stood behind the bar of Piper's club, P4, slicing through some new yellow fruit that Piper just had imported the other day. It had spikes all over it. He stopped slicing for a moment and coughed into his sleeve.

He thought that he'd help around for now until he goes to college in a few days.

Out of nowhere, Phoebe ran up to him with an obvious smirk on her face. He just could tell that she had something to tell him.

"Oh, hey, Phoebe. Wanna help me slice some fruit?" He asked while pointing downward.

Phoebe shook her head. "No thank you. I'd rather not have to deal with sticky fingers. Just got a pedicure." She smiled as she showed him the nails.

"So, what did you want to tell me?" He asked.

"What makes you think that I have something to say." She said as her lips pulled into a tighter smile.

Parker laughed before continuing to cut the fruit. "Just a hunch."

"Alright, fine." She gave in. "Looks like you're not the only Halliwell going to college. You're now looking at Phoebe Halliwell, college student."

"Wow, really? That's great." Parker said. "At least we'll be there together, maybe the time will go a little faster." He then coughed once more, gaining a weird look from his sister.

Phoebe sighed in relief. "This is the hugest thing I've done since I came back home. I mean, aside from vanquishing demons and saving the world from evil of course."

Phoebe gets a piece of paper out of her bag and handed it to Parker. "Okay, so I signed up for two general courses."

Looked at the long list of classes on the sheet. "And seven electives. Seven, Phoebe?"

"Alright, so I'm a little confused. I could use some advice. What do you think I should take?" She asked.

Parker went to answer but another cough left his mouth.

"Oh, honey, are you okay?" She asked in a soft tone.

"Don't worry, it's just a little cough. I'm fine." He tried to say.

She laughed. "I bet Prue made you have soup at lunch today after she heard that little cough."

"Weird enough, she actually tried to make me eat two bowls of it." He smiled.
