Kid Cosmic and the Couple Question

It was a sunny day, and Kid had just entered the diner. He was there to go out for lunch with Jo on her lunch break. Jo was currently working behind the counter, when she noticed him.

"Oh hey Kid. You're gonna have to give me a minute. I'm still working." said Jo, "Here, you can play on my phone while you wait."

Jo handed Kid her phone.

"Ok." said Kid

Kid went and sat at a booth and began playing Subway Surfers. It wasn't long before Kid failed the game and set the phone down for a second. It was then that Kid saw something that he had never seen before and kinda confused him. Hamburg and Fry were talking to each other. Suddenly, Hamburg kissed Fry on the cheek, and Fry left.

"Huh?" said Kid, with a confused look on his face

Jo suddenly approached Kid.

"Ok, I'm done. Ready to go?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm ready." said Kid

Kid handed Jo her phone and they left.

Kid kept thinking about what he saw. He was looking out the window, resting his head in his hand. Jo noticed.

"Hey Kid, is everything alright?" asked Jo

"Yeah."  said Kid

"Kid, you know you can't lie to me." said Jo in a somewhat scolding manner "Somethings on your mind. Go on, tell me."

"I don't know. " said Kid, "It's kinda weird."

"Trust me buddy, with everything we've been through, NOTHING is weird to me anymore. Lay it on me." said Jo

Jo stopped the car on the side of the road to listen.

"Alright, tell me what's on your mind." said Jo

"Ok, so um, before we left, I saw Hamburg kissing Fry on the cheek. It was so...weird. Like, I didn't think men did that."

"Oooh, ok. Yeah, they've been dating for a while now." said Jo

"Wait, dating? But don't only men and women do that?" asked Kid

"Well, no, not necessarily. Some people like the same gender. When that's the case, men are called gay, and women are called lesbian."

"Huh?" asked Kid, tilting his head

"Yeah, it can be kinda confusing for a kid like you."

"Is it a bad thing to like, be gay?" asked Kid

"Well no, not really. As long as you don't think it makes you special or above people and you treat people nicely. As long as you're nice and aren't weird about it, then it's fine. It's your choice."

Oh. Well, I don't think I'm gay. I mean, I like girls. I MEAN, not that I think girls are pretty or anything..." said Kid, blushing

"There something you wanna tell me Kid? You got a crush on someone? asked Jo, jokingly

"WHAT?! No! That's gross!"

"I thought you said you liked girls." said Jo

"Not like that! I just, uh, I like girls and not boys." said Kid, still blushing

"Hehe, don't worry dude, I'm just joking. I knew what you meant." said Jo

"If I like girls, what does that make me?" asked Kid

"That means you're straight." said Jo

"Oh, ok." said Kid "Hey Jo?"

"Yeah Kid?"

"Can you keep this between me and you? I don't want Fry and Hamburg to think I was judging them." said Kid

Jo smiled.

"Of course Kid. But don't worry. Even if they did find out, they'd understand."

"Thanks Jo. And thanks for explaining it to me."

"You're welcome Kid" said Jo

Just then, Kid's tummy rumbled.

'Uuh, Jo, can we get going? I'm STARVING!"

"Yeah, me too. Let's get going." said Jo

"I'm serious though. I could eat like five horses!" said Kid

"Dahahang Kid! You're that hungry?" asked Jo

"Oooh yeah." said Kid

"So, what do you have a craving for today?" asked Jo

"Well, I could REALLY go for some Burger King!" said Kid

"Alright, Burger King it is." said Jo "I'm just glad it's not McDonald's again!"

The two of them were sitting in the parking lot enjoying their food. They both had medium sized burgers, fries, and a drink. Kid had Coke, and Jo had Sprite.

"Hey Jo?" asked Kid

"Yeah Kid?" said Jo

"Um, what are you?"

"Huh? I'm a girl dude."

"I know THAT!" said Kid "But like, if Hamburg is gay, then what are you?"

"Oooh. Uh, straight I guess. I don't really know. I've never really thought about it." said Jo

"Well, uh, I support you no matter what!" said Kid

"Aww, thanks Kid. That's so sweet." said Jo

"You're welcome."

"Welp, I think we should be getting back. My break will be over soon." said Jo

"Ok. Can I stay at the diner with you?" asked Kid

"Of course you can Kid. You know you're welcome anytime." said Jo

And with that, Jo started the car, and they left for the diner.
