Devansh’s Pov :
Standing near the huge glass window, I looked at the night view of the busy city, and shipped the coffee in my hand. It was a hectic day. Even though I am too tired right now, I would prefer to stay here and work instead of going home. That's what I usually do, it has become a routine for me, at least I have been doing this for the last month. But not tonight, as Dadi got to know that I am coming home late and skipping dinner as well. She strictly warned me to come home at time today as she will be waiting for me and I know she will.
I can't help it, the mansion literally suffocates me. And when I eat alone, food doesn't taste like food to me. I can't expect Dadi to wait for me or anything. She has been doing it for all these years since my childhood. Now it's her who needs to be cared for.
I know I am a grown man and it's too childish to think like this but I do want someone to just be there for me, who would care for me, who will talk to me, listen to me.
I can't really understand this but there is some void, like a hole, an empty place. As if I am missing something or someone.
I walked back inside my cabin. I kept the empty cup on the table and sank into the chair. Leaning back I rested my head.
I touched the bracelet I am wearing and the ring attached to it. Strangely, it no longer reminds me of any of my failures, or my incapability, my responsibilities or what I owe to others. Instead, now it reminds me of someone else, someone who returned it to me.
My mind instantly drifted back to the memories of that night, a month back, when I saw her for the first time. I remembered the way she was looking at the sky, her eyes held admiration. And when I followed her gaze I found nothing there to admire. Her lips formed into a small smile, where I was struggling to gulp down the venom my mother was spitting from the other side of the call. And at that moment, I did feel jealous of her. Then her gaze found mine.
The sound of opening and closing of the door snapped out of my thoughts.
Kavya Mathur entered inside and stood in front of me.
“Who let you in?” I questioned her. I have given strict instruction to everyone in the office to not let her in, after that day she created a scene here.
“You shouldn't be mad at me, I am here to make things easier for you.” She said, coming towards me but I ignored her and picked up my phone to call the guards.
“Tara Mittal” she said and I shifted my gaze from my phone screen to her.
“Age 23, has done her graduation in literature. Lives in a joint family. her address is **********.” She circled the table to reach near me. Why is she taking information about her? What is she upto?
“You really thought that I would back out? You snatched the projects from me, made me lose the contracts. So, now it's even more important for me to get what I want.” She continued and stopped sitting on the table.
“And about that girl, you met her twice. That day you literally threw me out because of her. For that ch–”
“Out.” I said not letting her complete it. Just then the guards entered inside.
“Fine, wait till tomorrow. I have some surprise for you.” She said before walking out with guards.
Kavya was my mother's friend’s daughter. I met her a year ago. She seemed like a nice person to me. I met her a few more times after that. I didn't know what was going on between them. Then Maa informed me that she wants me to marry Kavya. I tried to deny her but she was too adamant and it's not like I can argue with her. She just orders and I follow, that's how it is. Somehow Dadi and Dad convinced her and she agreed to wait for some more years.
