The man then turns the mic on.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Cupid season one! I'm your host, Danny! let's bring out our lovely contestants!" Danny said as he gestured for the first girl to come, which was Nella. Nella walked out doing a catwalk.
"Put your hands together for Nella Groden!" Danny exclaimed.
I couldn't help but feel nervous even though the audience was online, but other than that, the place was still quite full.
"Right behind Nella, we have Rina McDoland," Danny said.
I walked up to the main camera nervously.
"So, what brings you to the game?" Danny asked.
"Uh... My friend told me to join her."
"So, you're not looking for love?" Daddy asked.
"Not at the moment..."
"Perhaps you'll change your mind when you see the male contestants. I'll come back to you afterwards." Danny said as he went back to calling out the females.
"In total, there are 20 contestants. 16 females and 4 males, meaning that you can get voted out. there will only be 4 lucky girls." Danny said.
"Now let's bring out the male contestants," Danny said.
"At this point, are they even contestants or prizes?" I whispered to Nella as I rolled my eyes.
"Firstly, we have Sean Johnson!" Danny exclaimed.
My jaw dropped to the floor, and so did Nella's.
"WHAT HE DOING HERE?!" Nella whispered in my ears, almost causing me to go deaf.
"How the heck am I supposed to know? I thought he had a girlfriend." I slightly shrugged my shoulders.
"He does!" Nella replied.
"Mr. Sean, please introduce yourself," Danny said
I didn't hate Sean when he kissed another girl right after he told me he liked me. I never hated him when he ghosted me for a few months or when I was sick, and he checked if I came to school just so he could 'play' with other girls. So... when did I start hating him? When he was flirting with me, he then lied about not having a girlfriend, but the next day, I saw him with his "girlfriend" that he said he didn't have. I was heartbroken a bit, but not too much.
"My name is Sean, and I like freaks," Sean said with a confident tone.
For some reason, his answer and tone pissed me off.
"Now, let's welcome our second contestant... Jeremiah Collins!" Danny exclaimed.
As Jeremiah walked out, Nella's eyes sparked up. She looks mesmerized by his beauty.
"You like him?" I asked while smiling.
"I do... He's so beautiful." Nella said as she was still staring at him. It felt like everything was in slow motion.
"Hello, everyone. My name is Jeremiah, and I don't have a specific preference when it comes to women." Jeremiah said while slightly waving towards the camera.
"It's my time to shine!" Nella said.
"You sure he ain't lying?" I asked.
"Well, we'll find out," Nella said confidently.
"Okay! Now, contestants 3 and 4 please exit at the same time!" Danny exclaimed.
Both number 3 and 4 walked in at the same time. My eyes followed contestant number 4 he was exactly my type. Buzzcut, muscular, and two-toned lips.
"Hello, I'm Matthew, and I'm interested in quiet girls." Contestant number 3 said.
"Wassup, I'm Ezekiel, and I'm into pretty girls." Contestant number 4 said.
"You...like him...?" Nella asked.
"Uh... me? I do. He's hot." I said as I was mesmerized by his voice.
"He's not? Your taste in men is whacked. He's ugly as f*ck but only likes pretty girls? His personality sounds like trash." Nella stated.
I have always had different tastes in men compared to my friends. She has high standards, while I tend to settle for anyone who shows interest in me. Unfortunately, this has led to toxic relationships for me in the past. However, I felt that Ezekiel might be different.
"Let's kick things off with our inaugural challenge for the amazing women participating in our competition, which is..." Danny took a dramatic pause.
"A culture appreciation game!" He exclaimed.
I was stunned and panicked, feeling at a loss. Korean culture appreciation? I feel like I don't know enough about Korea!
"Here's how the game works: each participant will receive 2 questions to answer. If a contestant can't respond within 30 seconds, you'll have the opportunity to steal their question and earn extra points. Later on, we'll delve into the significance of points." Danny said.
"Let's kick off with our first question directed to Rina!" Danny exclaimed.
"Oh no... I'm in trouble," Rina whispered anxiously.
