Midnight falls onto the quiet streets and the rain descends onto the terrain, droplets of water hitting the leaves of the trees and their shapes are illuminated by the street lamps. The shelter of my umbrella kept my clothes and my body dry from becoming soaked as I made my way back to my college dorm after finishing up my 10-page essay at the local coffee shop. As I made my way across the campus, I saw I wasn't the only soul late at this hour as I saw a familiar face. I could confirm it was indeed my roommate Bella.
She didn't have an umbrella or anything to shield herself from the fast droplets of water. Instead of running back to our dorm and seeking shelter from the rainfall, she opted to just walk back as she folded her arms and her head was looking down with a look of melancholy. Even though we were just roommates, she never opened up to me. She never really talks to anyone and just keeps to herself. The only time I've ever really seen her with someone was with a guy who I assume is her boyfriend. She looks up and stops focuses her eyes and realizes it's me.
Bella: oh hey....
Y/n: hey Bella, wanna get underneath my umbrella before you catch a cold?
She stared at me and I watched as her body was soaked and her clothes were damped with water. She reluctantly stepped under my umbrella and we headed back to our dorm. I tried to make conversation but she only responded in one-word responses and I decided to stop as it was going nowhere and I didn't want to annoy her. Soon we made it to our room and I opened the door as we stepped in.
She immediately laid down on her bed and faced the wall.
Y/n: um are you gonna go take a shower? So you can at least put some new clothes on and sleep-
Bella: I'll do it in the morning and I'm fine...
Y/n: ok, be right back. I'm gonna go take one myself.
I grabbed my towel and some sleep clothes to wear and before I was about to leave, Bella stopped me.
Bella: hey y/n...
I turned to see she still had her head facing the wall but spoke to me.
Y/n: yeah Bella?
She pauses for a moment before saying her next words.
