Chapter 3: "The Mysterious Alleyway"

- 49 DAYS LEFT -

The loud ringing sound from my alarm clock became apparent.
I suddenly jumped out of the comforts of my bed and would fall onto the ground head first, making a loud thump noise.

I immediately got up and would reach out for my school clothes on my nightstand while yawning deeply.

My school clothes were just a dark blue shirt with a white tie along with some gray pants. Before putting on my shirt, I would grab a thick bandage and wrap it around my chest.

I started running towards the exit of my room and would also grab my brown case that was just my schoolbag (I really want to have a new school bag because it's way too small)

But then.. Without any warning, I slammed against the door to the exit of my room.
Sliding down awkwardly onto the floor.

“I really do… need some glasses”
I muttered under my breath while opening the door and getting up.

As soon as I got out, I would be greeted by my kitty cat..
No other than Mr. Mittens!

“Hii little guy!”
I quickly petted my kitty cat softly with care whilst saying that.

When I was done petting my cat, I ran towards the small kitchen and grabbed a toast that seemed to be already put out.
I guess my mother and father already went off to work!

I quickly grabbed a nail clip that was laid near the exit of my home
And walked outside whilst putting the nail clip in my bag.

I started walking along the sidewalk when suddenly I would hear someone calling out my name nearby.

“YOKOTA! YOKOTAA!”
It was none other than Akiko wearing her school outfit from yesterday, but this time with her hair up in a cute bun, running towards me.
I quickly sighed and switched to my normal facade as always for the school day.

“Good morning..”

“Hai!!”
She stopped almost right against my face, and my heart would skip a beat.

“Oh uhm..Yokota.. do you want me to help you with your tie?”

“What?”

Akiko pointed her left hand towards my white tie.
It seemed not really tied to how panicked I was to get up and go to school on time.

“Sure.”

She walked towards me and placed her hands onto my tie, and would begin tying It.

Silence fell between us.
It was kind of an awkward moment.

I stared at her soft and kind eyes.
My heart skipped a beat once more.

She seemed to be quite flustered, too.

When she was done tying my tie, she quickly turned away from me, seeming embarrassed in some way.

“Let's just go..Yokota.”

“Alright..”
My normal and quiet facade seemed to be faltering with her.
Why was that? What was this feeling I felt when she tied my tie?

I ignored those thoughts, and we both started walking towards school.
Cars seemed to pass by, and the chirping sounds of birds in the morning filled the area.
It seemed like a peaceful morning..

When suddenly.
I bumped into someone.

“Hey you blind fuck! Watch where you're going!”

I sighed and looked up on who I bumped into whilst squinting my eyes to see them better..

A girl with dark brown hair with a similar school uniform to Akiko but with star earrings and long hair towered over me, with an angry expression on her face.
Two girls with one blond hair and the other black alongside her seemed to look disgusted at me or angered too.

Of course I had to bump into the annoying fucks that were the so called popular girls.

Akiko stared at the girl I bumped into, seeming confused on why she was this mean for no reason at all.

“Yokota dear.. you owe us some money you know… hehe..”

“What? You guys never said anything about money!”

The two girls alongside her would surround me and look at me as if I was some kind of animal in a zoo.

“Yes yes..”
The two girls would mutter again and again.

Akiko approached them, pushing the blond girl away from me.

“HEY! What's up with you piece of crap!”
The blond girl would push Akiko back.

“HEY BETH STOP!”
I yelled.

“What are you gonna do? Cry? Run? You can't do anything!”

Beth would push Akiko again down to the floor and would kick her stomach.

“OW!”

“C'mon girls! Let's teach the new kid here how it works around here!”

Beth would suddenly grab me, preventing me from helping Akiko.
The two other girls walked to Akiko and stared at her as if she was just an insect.

“STOP IT HOSHIKO!! THIS IS WAY TOO FAR!”
I tried to get out of Beth's grasp and help Akiko but I just couldn't!

“Hey Hoshiko!”
Said the black haired girl that now seemed concerned.

“Don't you think this is too far.. Yokota could be right..”

“SHUT UP YOU DON'T GET TO DECIDE! MY DADDY CAN JUST KICK YOU OUT OF MY SCHOOL YOU KNOW?!”

She'd run towards the black haired girl and would slap her cheek,  whilst grabbing her shirt.

This was the perfect opportunity!

I quickly jumped up from Beth's grasp and ran towards Akiko.
I would pick her up and put her on my back and began to run away.

“COME BACK HERE YOU STUPID COWARD!”
They'd begin running towards me and throwing pebbles at me when I took a turn.

I picked up the pace and ran even faster to avoid the pebbles and the girls.
Akiko seemed to have passed out for a while by now, I suddenly ran into an alleyway with some houses on the side, one in particular that seemed abandoned and a mailbox in the middle side of the alleyway.

Suddenly.. without warning..
I stumbled on a rock and would roll down to the ground and smashed against a streetlight that was near the mailbox.

The popular girls walked towards me while giggling to themselves.

“LET'S TEACH YOU A LESSON TOO!”
Hoshiko’s hand seemed to fly towards me, ready to slap me and then beat me up.
I braced myself for impact..

But then.. without warning.
A girl with light pink short hair and a pastel pink short dress and some sandals grabbed her hand from hitting me.

“WHAT THE… how did you even get here?! I never even saw you!”

A dog quickly jumped out of the backyard of the abandoned house, barking at them whilst preparing to attack if necessary.

“OH SHIT!”
The popular girls began running away from the dog screaming in fear and crying.

They seemed to have run away from the dog.

“Are you ok Ichiro Yokota?”
The pink haired girl's hand reached towards me.
She seemed really kind.

I grabbed her hand and got up from the ground.

“Thank you..But wait.. How do you know my name?!”

The pink haired girl chuckled sweetly and would then say.

“My name is Reimi Sugimoto.. and I'm.. a ghost trapped in this alleyway.”
