009. THE DINNER PARTY
season two, episodes fourteen to fifteen

AT THE SALVATORE Boarding House, a very reoccurring scene was played itself out. Damon and Stefan were arguing, again, and Annabel was sitting on the couch, her heads swinging as if watching a tennis match.
"You brought back John Gilbert?!" Damon raised his voice, looking like he was considering the benefices of fratricide. "That was your big Save Elena move?"
Stefan sighed, "I went to go look for Isobel, and I got John instead. He said he can help us, and we're desperate."
Damon shook his head, "We're not that desperate, Stefan. The guy tried to barbecue me!"
"Bonnie's new witch friend is working with Elijah, so we have to assume that the moonstone was never destroyed," Stefan argued. "Elena is putting all of her faith into some deal that she made with Elijah to keep everyone safe. I don't trust him and it's not like we can just go up and kill him because apparently, he can't die!"
"I'm still waiting for the part where John Gilbert is the answer," Damon deadpanned.
Stefan sighed, "He knew about the sacrifice, Isobel told him. He said he knew of a way to keep Elena safe."
"And how do we do that?" Damon asked.
"He's not talking. At least not to me anyway." Stefan had the decency to look slightly uncomfortable, "I'm taking Elena out of town for a couple of days. Just until the dust settles. Or Elijah leaves."
Damon scoffed, "Great work Stefan. Top notch. As if we didn't have enough problems."

AFTER THEY called Elena, and she told them that John had gone out for a bite at the Mystic Grill, Damon was suddenly desperately craving fries.
Damon parked the car, but before he could get out, Annabel grabbed his arm, "What exactly is your plan?"
