we can't be friends, but
i'd like to just pretendwe can't be friends (wait for your love)

i never thought i'd look forward to my parents'
social gatherings, but now i do, just for the chance
to see you again. i was so nervous asking for your
number, but when you gave me that bright, genuine smile, my heart raced in a way i can't quite describe.seeing the happiness on your face when i asked
for your number was a rush of emotions i've never
felt before. it was like everything else in the room
disappeared, and all that mattered was you and that beautiful smile of yours.i miss your smiles more than i
can put into words.— R.
the evening seemed to stretch on, however he could hardly focus on the conversations around him, his thoughts occupied with the image of her smile. he checked his watch for the umpteenth time, willing the time to pass faster.finally, he spotted her. (Name) was standing near the same ice sculpture from before, her presence lighting up the room in a way that made everything else fade into the background. he took a deep breath, summoning every ounce of courage he had.
as he approached her, his heart raced with a mix of nerves and excitement. she looked up and noticed him, her face breaking into a smile that seemed to warm the entire room. her smile was bright and radiant, the kind that could chase away the dullness of any day.
it started as a gentle curve of her lips, which then blossomed into a full, genuine expression of happiness. her eyes crinkled at the corners, shimmering with a light that made her whole face come alive.
"good evening, (Name)," Rin began, his voice steadier than he felt. "i was wondering if i could, um, have your number? i'd really like to keep in touch."
for a brief moment, time seemed to stand still. the room's chatter and clinking glasses became a distant hum as he watched her reaction. her smile widened even more, and there was a glimmer of joy in her eyes that made Rin's heart skip a beat.
it was as if her entire demeanor radiated warmth and acceptance, making him feel seen and valued in a way he hadn't expected.
"of course, Rin," she replied, her voice filled with genuine warmth. "i'd like that."
as she wrote her number on a napkin and handed it to him, he felt a rush of emotions he hadn't anticipated. it was as if a wave of relief and joy had washed over him, leaving him both exhilarated and calm.
the look on her face, the way her eyes sparkled with happiness, was a moment he wanted to hold onto forever. it was like a bright light amid a crowd of faceless people.
