Putting the paper back on the table, I turned around... what in the world? My feet started toward the door, and as soon as I pulled it, it swung open. My hands flew to my eyes, trying to block the bright white light. Once the light died down, vibrant rich colors were all around me, flowing past me in waves. I was in awe of the beauty of it,
"Helllllo Everybody!"
A loud voice came through an intercom system,
"And now for the big finale-"
It felt like a stampede was running all around me.
"The one and only, Paula Swansten!"
Cheers and screams filled up the space of the room.
"Welcome, Paula! So, how does it feel?"
Floating toward me was a man with an Elvis Presley-like hairdo and a black tuxedo jacket. His big blue square glasses sat on his invisible nose. From the waist down, there was nothing but from the waist up he was purely bones, a ghost of half a skeleton.
"W-what's happening?"
"Whatever do you mean?"
Turning himself toward the audience, I followed,
"Isn't she just so cute? Oh, you poor naive thing."
He turned back to me and pouted his lips up toward the sky,
"Well Paula, before we let you go, I have two questions."
"Okay...?"
"How does it feel to be the new lucky chosen one?"
"I mean, not great, I just got bashed in the head..."
The audience laughed while he just smiled,
"Are you ready for your afterlife?"
"I didn't get a choice."
Are these people being serious right now? Turning back to everyone, he announced,
"Alright, everyone, that's all we have for today, but again, welcome our new chosen one!"
Cheers sounded through the whole place, and then the lights began to settle. Looking out, I could see they all had the same skeleton look as him, I looked down at myself. Seeing through the bones in my body and floating above the floor, I reached up and felt my face. While in the white room, I was normal, wearing the same clothes I had on at Beth's house. But now, I was floating bones-
"Hi!"
To my left was a little ghost girl with curly red hair,
"Um, hello..."
"I'm Jackie!"
Smiling like her life depended on it, she stuck out her hand.
"Paula, um, why am I here?"
"You're just like everyone else here. You were chosen."
"Yeah, I know, but like why am I here? Do I have any unfinished business...?"
Jackie looked at me as if I was telling the funniest joke,
"No! Every person sacrificed to the goddess comes here. It's a reward for your death!"
"Right..."
"Here, come walk with me, and I'll catch you up, okay?"
"Yeah, please."
"We are the pure-hearted souls that were sacrificed to Valista,"
Jackie turned to look at me to make sure I was getting it. Nodding at her, we turned to start down a narrow hallway with huge pictures of random  people on all sides of the wall.
"Once a year, Valista gives one of her followers a gift. A gift that makes it so they can have whatever they want, and I mean WHATEVER they want. The only price is that of a pure life. You were chosen by Beth Amber. Her wish was to bring back her son, Simion."
Thinking back that made sense, Beth would sometimes talk about her son. He had died in a car accident when he was five. She loved Simion. He was her only child. However, I never would have thought that Beth, the sweet old lady I cared for, would decide to end one person's life to gain another. Looking straight ahead, we were coming up on a small stone cottage with beautiful trees and moss on each side.
"What are we here for?"
"This is your house. Each of us has one. Inside, you'll find everything you'll need."
Turning to my new home, I took everything in.
"I hope you'll have an amazing time with us. After all, it will be forever."
With that, she gleefully went away, her curls bouncing as she left. I spun back to my cottage and opened the door. Floating into a room with a green couch and bookshelves all over the walls, I looked to my right and saw a TV in the corner. There on the screen was a red face with sharp teeth and cat-like eyes. Across the face were the symbols of the paused button, finding and pressing play on the remote, and the picture began to move.
"Hello Paula, welcome to my home, I hope you'll love it... hahaha. Simion has been sent down not that long ago, and just so you know, I'm gonna have my eye on you..."
Just seeing her, I knew that was Valista. Her face disappeared from the screen, leaving me with discomfort. Wanting to go to bed, I turned to go down the hall. To the left was my new bedroom with light brown walls and a closet across from the big floral print bed. Moving toward it, the room became colder than the rest of the house, and a shiver went up my spine. Sitting on the bed, I pulled the comforter up to lie down when I saw a little purple envelope. Picking it up, I carefully opened it, inside a letter written in what looked like a child's handwriting,

I have been told Beth Amber was this year's pick, I have no idea who you are, but please trust me. Something bad is going to happen if you don't. She will choose me as her wish, I know it. This place isn't what you think it is. She's coming for me. They need the son of a follower for it,... for the ritual. I'm the only one qualified, please help me, I'm begging you...
- Simion

Finishing the letter, I set it on the bed, I couldn't even comprehend what I just read. The only thought in my head was, I have to help...
