The god of many faces' smile twisted, "So?" She- no, he said. Vex looked around at each one of us. Lizeh looked like she wanted to say something, but she didn't open her mouth. Vex looked guilty as he considered the god's offer. "Do you want immortality or not little mortal? You know the cost; your friends lives. Make your choice before my patience wears thin," He chided, the sneer on his face large and ugly.
"I accept your offer," Vex said. They were going to die anyway. Liam had coronary artery disease, which would kill him soon, Lizeh had cancer, and Hanna had some fatal disease that she wouldn't actually tell us about. All I know is that she'll die from it. He thought.
Hanna's body was no longer her own. She, along with Liam and Lizeh, walked forward and although she tried to fight, she couldn't. The god grinned. He was amused by the placid, cloudy look that had taken over the three sacrifice's faces. They stood within five feet of him, and faced Vex.
Suddenly, Vex couldn't move, couldn't look away. He didn't want to watch them die, but the god wouldn't allow anything else. Liam was first. He took one step forward, towards Vex, and stopped. A tall, rusty spike thrust out of the ground and speared him through the middle, and just as quickly as it stabbed him, it retreated, leaving him to crumple to the ground in a crying, scared, bloody mess.
Next was Lizeh. She took a step forward, just as Liam had done, and the cloudy look on her face disappeared. Then she started choking. She gasped for air helplessly, and begged the god, begged Vex for mercy. She didn't want to die. She was so scared. Then she was gone.
Finally, Hanna stepped forward. Vex took two steps forward as well, and they met in the middle. A knife found it's way into Vex's hand and he stabbed her through the heart immediately. She hadn't thought her lover capable of such a thing, but she should have never underestimated him. Instead of pleading, sobbing, and experiencing general terror like her companions, she met Vex's eyes with a cold, sharp fury. She never looked away, not when she slumped to the ground, not when she finally died. She looked up at him, even through her lifeless eyes with fury.
