Chapter 5

I knew I was in trouble but I was going to explain to himknew what had happened. "Does your Tia Lupita still live downtown? You are going to visit her. Go grab your things." I instructed Chava. But instead of doing that he started asking me where Suzu was. " Suzu is going to be fine. I'm gonna get her back. Now go, go ,go! I'll come with you."

After ten minutes i went downstairs and there I saw him in the darkness. He slowly started walking towards me. I was ready to tell him everything. "Why'd you run away?" He said in a serious tone. "I was scared"  was all i said. " You better not be lying, chula."  "I'm not." And then I signalled him to stop talking. He looked at me confused. "Let's go watch TV" i said and open the television but grabbed a notebook and a pen and started writing. He was about to say something but then " Shush." Oh shit. "I'm watching the show." I said trying to cover it up. After that I was done. I gave him the notebook and he started reading it.

"At first I run away from you but Brian Reich captured me. He has Suzu. He put a microphone on me. He's listening. He wants to find you. I have a plan. Just paly along."

When he finished he looked at me and nodded. Chava came downstairs but stopped when he saw Lino. "Is that your son?" He said laughing. " No, that's my godson. Pls don't hurt him." I said and started writing again. Lino signalled Chava to come close and he told him something about a cellphone. I wasn't relaly paying attention. I was trying to think. He then told Chava to go to his room and be quiet and then waited for my instructions. I gave him the notebook and he started reading again.

" Call Poyo and give him the notebook."

He nodded once again. "Poyo!" He shouted " Why are you calling him?" I said to try to fool Brian. "¿Qué está pasando?" Poyo said as he came tk the room. Lino immediately passed him the notebook.

" Long story short after I run away Brian Reich captured me and put a microphone on me to spy on you. It must be broken or you're in big trouble. Ready your gun and wait for my signal. They will think I'm dead. It's going to be a lot easier after that."

Poyo nodded and got ready. Lino then decided to start talking so Brian wouldn't get suspicious. " Why'd you run away?" Lino asked me "I told you I was scared." Lino said as Poyo started to get his gun ready as quietly as he could. "Why are you lying? Poyo saw a cop walking up to you. And not just any cop. Brian Reich. He's an enemy. And also with the DEA. And you were with him. For all I know you could have said everything." Lino said. Wow he was full- on actor mode right now. "I'm sorry Elena but I have no other choice." Lino said. I signalled Poyo to take off the safety to make it obvious I was going to get shot. " Poyo do what you have to do." Lino said and walked behind me to catch me after I get shot. I took Poyo's hand and guided the gun to my ribs. That's where the microphone was. I put my hand up to signal Poyo when to shoot. He nodded to tell me he was ready. "No no no Lino don't plea-" and I quickly put my hand down. Poyo shot me. I fell back on Lino and he shouted for his men to come inside in order to take the bullet out and well, help me not die. He picked me up bridal style and brought me to the table. That's when the pain started. " HIJO DE LA GRAN PUTA I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" I shouted refering to Brian.
