Empty House

Drumming the cap of my pen against my notebook with my tongue slightly sticking out of my mouth. I tried to think of different ways into not doing my own homework and being able to play with my friends. But nothing was coming into my head. And so I sat there and pondered on what to do. I heard my mother call out to me, causing myself to slightly panic. "Nozomi, are you doing your homework?" My eyes glanced at the white door to see if my mother was peeping through the crack of my door. Luckily she wasn't.

"Yes Mama, I'm almost done with it." I yelled to her mother as I began to scramble on my bed trying to hide my notebook from my parents. I wasn't lying when I told my mother that my homework was almost done, I just got bored halfway through and wanted to play with my friends. Shoving it under my pillow, I felt defeated that I couldn't get out of her homework since my parents were here. I sat at the edge of my bed staring at the bay window that was covered with pillows, blankets and books.

Tilting my head I saw something moving underneath the blankets. Curiosity overtook my mind as I wanted to know what was underneath. Was it one of my pets? Hera or was it Zeus. I couldn't even tell the difference between them since they are mostly the same size.

"Hera, Zeus. Get out from underneath my covers. This is the-" I stopped my sentences as I got off of my warm cozy bed and stood on the warmth of dark hardwood floors. I tried to remember how many times my pets had pulled this type of situation on me. "The fifth time this week." I guessed it wasn't quite the right answer but I couldn't remember the exact number of how many times they did it but it was close in my eyes. I stalked my way over to the bay window and yanked the mix match blankets off of the bench and onto the ground.

My eyes travel around the bench, seeing nothing, my brows furrowed together. Confusion was plastered on my face. Looking back at the blanket I ripped off, there was movement underneath. It looked like something was trying to escape from under the blanket. This only caused me to be more confused on what it was and curious about the creature. How was it trapped underneath her blanket? Why was it trapped underneath it? Did I hurt it anyway when I pulled the blanket off of the bench?

Slowly I laid down the blanket that was in my hold and slowly crept up to the movements. Until I stood right next to it. Tilting my head to the side more as if I was like a curious puppy. My hand slowly went to the blanket and lifted up so I could see what was inside.

When I did, I saw a butterfly. Raising an eyebrow the butterfly soon flew out of the covers and landed at the tip of my wooden bed frame. Dropping the blanket I walked towards my bed to stare at the butterfly. It was purely a blue one with white particles surrounding it. To me it appeared to look like it was snowing from one side of it to the other side. Thinning my lips I reached out towards the butterfly before the pretty blue butterfly started to rip itself open. This caused me to widen my eyes and screamed at the top of my lungs before sprinting towards my bed and climbing onto it and covering myself with the dark blue covers.
