61st Birthday
Lin Yan felt so embarrassed! She couldn't look at the round thing directly anymore. After cleaning it, she put it back in the box and stuffed it into the drawer. After
doing all this, her face was so hot that she decided to have a good talk with her father later.
Time passed unknowingly and it was late December. Lin Yan's birthday happened to be Christmas Eve before Christmas. Zheng Xu and Feng Saner had planned where to celebrate her birthday.
That day happened to be Thursday. Lin Yan advised them not to make a fuss, "If you don't want to go out, don't invite so many people. Let's just get together."
Zheng Xu and his friends had contacted the venue, but they couldn't ignore the birthday girl's words, so they called and canceled it temporarily. Feng Saner said she was hypocritical, "What's wrong with going out to get together? You are the only one who has too many things to do."
"Can you not go out?" Lin Yan sent a message,
"Okay, beautiful women have privileges, why should I waste my words."
"Just know it," Zhao Ruoruo replied. An Qing followed closely and sent a picture of a little bear rolling on the ground with laughter.
Feng Saner had no idea what to do with these girls. When he saw Zhao Ruoruo coming out, he suddenly remembered something and sent a message in the group, "If you don't want to gather outside, let's go to your house. Aren't Uncle Lin and Aunt Juan on business trips? It's a good time to have fun. Old Zhao, remember to call Aunt Cui and start preparing in the afternoon. We can have a full banquet when we go back."
Aunt Cui is the Zhao family's nanny and has excellent cooking skills.
"You are good at making arrangements," Zhao Ruoruo replied, "Look, Yanyan, there is no problem here."
Lin Yan was stunned when she saw the message in the group. She didn't expect everyone to be so excited about going home to celebrate birthdays. She thought about it carefully. Since her parents were not there and Aunt Cui came to help, it seemed good to celebrate at home.
"Okay," she replied.
Deciding to celebrate birthdays at home, many things had to be prepared in advance. Fortunately, there was Aunt Cui. Ruoruo probably told her about it, and she knocked on the door with things in her hands early in the morning on the 24th.
Aunt Cui's face was flushed. She smiled at Lin Yan who opened the door, "Miss Yan, I heard from Miss Ruoruo that there is a party at your house today, so she brought some things over. There is also a supermarket downstairs. I will go downstairs to buy whatever I need. Do you have a menu here?"
"Aunt Cui, you are welcome. Just call me Yanyan." Lin Yan was still not used to Aunt Cui's respectfulness, but she still called me that after saying it many times. This sentence seemed to have become a courtesy. She handed Aunt Cui a dish, "These dishes were ordered by San'er and his friends. They said they haven't eaten your cooking for a long time and want to try it. There are not many of us, just seven... well, eight. You can prepare the rest."
Tan Size knew from Feng Qile that it was her birthday, and he insisted on coming to celebrate her birthday.
Aunt Cui nodded. Lin Yan invited them in, handed over the key, and said, "Thank you for your trouble, Aunt Cui. I'll go to school first."
As for why it was originally planned to be seven... it was because Zhao Ruoruo vowed that she would be able to call He Ting over. To be honest, she was a little bit unconvinced. Although He Ting was not so indifferent to Zhao Ruoruo these days, he was invited to celebrate her birthday?
Lin Yan still couldn't imagine it.
With something on her mind, Lin Yan unconsciously looked at He Ting twice more during class. Song Lian was more sensitive and noticed it quickly. She wrote a small note to ask her if it was because of her birthday in the evening.
Lin Yan smiled while holding the small note. She felt that what Tan Size said was right. Song Lian was really too obedient. They were deskmates, okay? It was nothing to whisper to each other, but she actually wrote a note to her. With
a smile in her eyes, Lin Yan replied to her in a serious manner, "Ruoruo said that she was responsible for calling He Ting. I think he probably won't agree."
Song Lian pursed her lips, took the note and wrote, "Or... let's go and talk to him. You are the birthday girl, and he has to give you some face."
Lin Yan couldn't help but look at her. Speaking of face, Song Lian should be afraid that Zhao Ruoruo would be disappointed and embarrassed if He Ting didn't go?
The two looked at each other, and some things were already tacitly understood. But this opportunity was not easy to find. After all, He Ting was used to being alone, and there was no one to pass the message. After finally waiting until the afternoon physical education class was free, Lin Yan took Song Lian for a stroll in the playground, and finally turned to He Ting next to the ping-pong table as if nothing had happened.
He raised his eyelids and looked at them lightly, and took the initiative to ask, "Is there something?"
"That..." Lin Yan was thinking about the wording, "Today is my birthday, I don't plan to go out, just some friends get together at home, I want to invite you to sit over, do you have time?"
He lowered his eyes and was silent for a while, then asked, "Who are they?"
Lin Yan told the truth, and He Ting looked up at her and asked the time.
"We will go back after school. If you have something to do, you can go first. Come around eight o'clock, okay?"
He nodded.
After everyone left, Song Lian shook her hand, "You are amazing. Every time I talk to He Ting, I feel a little...uncomfortable."
Lin Yan smiled, "I think he is quite easy to talk to. He also answered your questions before. In the last competition we held, Teacher Zhang said that he also gave some suggestions. He would also help other students if they had any help."
Song Lian thought about it and it seemed to be so, but He Ting was indeed cold all day long, which made people feel timid. So she could only conclude that "He Ting, he is probably cold on the outside but warm on the inside."
Lin Yan agreed very much. Moreover, after getting along for a long time, she found that Song Lian's eyes no longer had the special appreciation for He Ting.
In fact, it was not from now on. From the chance encounter in the mall, Song Lian knew where the root was. In contrast to Zhao Ruoruo who protected it from the heart, her love seemed so superficial and fragile.
That's why she later took the initiative to propose to exchange seats with Zhao Ruoruo to create opportunities for the two of them. Because even she, an outsider, could see at a glance that the ice in He Ting's heart was melting little by little because of that girl...
