The next morning, Aria woke up with a sense of anticipation she hadn't felt in a long time. The events of the previous day - the study group, her new friendships, Lucas's invitation - were swirling in her mind, creating an exciting mix of emotions.

As she got ready for school, Aria couldn't help but cast a worried glance at her hands. No unusual glow this morning, which was a relief. She hoped this trend would continue throughout the day.

In the kitchen, Elena was preparing breakfast, the smell of toast and coffee filling the air. "Good morning, sweetie," she said as she saw Aria enter. "How was your study session yesterday?"

Aria hesitated for a moment, wondering how much she should share. "It was... good," she finally said. "People are really nice here."

Elena smiled, but Aria didn't miss the glimmer of concern in her eyes. "I'm glad you're making friends, Aria. But don't forget..."

"To be careful, I know," Aria finished, holding back a sigh. "Don't worry, mom. I have everything under control."

Elena nodded, unconvinced but not pressing the issue. As Aria ate her breakfast, she wondered if she should tell her mother about Lucas's invitation to the football game. Finally, she decided to keep it to herself, at least for now. She wanted to enjoy this new normalcy without the constant shadow of her mother's worries.

On the way to school, Aria thought about her strategy for the day. She had to find a balance between fitting in and staying distant enough not to risk revealing her secret. It was a balancing act she was starting to master, but it remained exhausting.

When she arrived at Ravenswood High, Aria was greeted by Ivy's warm smile. "Hey, Aria! Ready for another exciting day in our charming institution?"

Aria couldn't help but laugh at Ivy's feigned enthusiasm. "Oh yes, I can't wait to uncover the fascinating mysteries of quadratic equations."

As they headed towards their lockers, Aria spotted Lucas a little further down the hall. He was in deep conversation with Marcus, but looked up as she approached. Their eyes met and Lucas gave her a discreet smile. Aria felt her cheeks warm slightly and quickly looked away.

Ivy, who hadn't missed this silent exchange, nudged Aria. "Well, it looks like our star quarterback really has a soft spot for you," she whispered with a wink.

Aria shook her head, trying to downplay the situation. "It's nothing, really. We barely know each other."

"Sometimes it only takes one look," Ivy replied dreamily. Then, seeing Aria's uncomfortable expression, she changed the subject. "By the way, did you finish your history homework? Professor Nightshade will probably quiz us today."

Grateful for this diversion, Aria launched into a discussion about the history class, trying to ignore the tingling sensation at the tips of her fingers. She had to stay focused, not let her emotions take over.

The morning passed in a blur of classes and whispered conversations between lessons. Aria found herself stealing glances at Lucas whenever she passed him in the hallways. There was something about him that intrigued her, beyond his obvious charm. A kind of... familiarity that she couldn't explain.

At lunchtime, Aria joined Ivy and their friends at their usual table. The conversation revolved around the upcoming football game and the party that would follow.

"You're coming to the party after the game, right Aria?" Zoe asked enthusiastically.

Aria hesitated. A party? That seemed like an unnecessary risk. "I don't know... I have to ask my mom and..."

"Oh come on!" Ethan insisted. "It'll be the event of the year. You can't miss it!"

As Aria was looking for an excuse, she felt a presence behind her. Turning around, she found herself face to face with Lucas.
