"Because we're going to school."

The stunned face on my sister turned into anxious disbelief when she saw no trace of joke in my words.

"...school?" At Nathaniel's question I only nodded while studying my brother's own incredulity on my words.

Chuckling I moved out of the kitchen, through the dinner and living room, ending into the stairs which led to the bed chambers on the cabins second floor.

Moving at my kin's pace towards my room, looking for the phone I've neglected the whole afternoon with all the moving.

Recalling how last time dad texted me, he asked me to call him when we'd arrived.

And I totally forgot until now.

I did messaged him but he might book a flight here if I don't show him I'm safe.

In no time a series of rushed steps followed, along with the Nathaniel's protests.

"Nez, you can't be serious." Nate's voice came up first near the opened door.

"But I am", I was enjoying his clear reluctance on the matter, yet avoided any of my amusement to show on my face when I faced him.

"Why would we even be going to school right now?"

"Because you're seventeen. And highschoolers not assisting classes and just staying holed up in this forest is bound to arise suspicions in town." Specially after us wondering around and buying supplies in the local stores.

Phone in hand I moved out of my bedroom, retracing my path at a speed he could pick up with.

"You'll have no choice until friday because of the change, but classes started soon in this part of the world and you'll have to assist." And me with them. My own reluctance on the matter growing too.

"That's true but-", he's frustration clear from the sudden news.

I paused near the stairways and looked back at him.

"It's needed." And the wolves wanted it too. "Plus you'll start relationships here. With one of your kind now." I was refering to werewolves, as getting familiar with what they were changing could help them futher.

Only reason why I had agreed on going back to highschool not even three years after I've graduated.

"My kind...", He's still not used to it. I could hear it in his tone, the word estranged to him.

Trying to lift his view on this, I added,"Not like you can't have human friends but you'll have to be extra careful to stay oblivious to them. They don't know about us, and it should stay that way."

Which was more of a reason why the twins had to learn of their kind from the neighboring pack's help. The sooner they got used to everything the better.

Kaitlin came up the stairs then, voicing strongly , "You're asking us to go back to school as if it is easy."

That confused me, "Because it is. You've been fine so far. If you're worried about getting discovered by the humans you shouldn't. During the travels and today at town you've been doing fine. And with the Moonlight pack's guidance on the rest, I don't see the problem."

An angered tone surged from her to my response, "It's not that simple!"

Her hand was still on the stairs handle, the wood creaking with her strength. As she realized, her frustration increased and she looked at me pointedly, the action proving her statement.

"It takes time to get used to it. You've barely had three days-'"

"And yet you want us ready to handle all this in another mere days and be able to socialize in a school of all places, when we have barely any control in-" Kaitlin's frustrated voice stopped, and that aggresive stance she had disappeared. Her shoulders sagged, her face varying complex emotions.
