POV ???

A deep breathe left me, my body sinking into the leather chair, my hands letting go of the mouse. Eyes still remaining on the computer's screen, the only light in the study.

It was already night, but as always, my work was never ending.

The amount of complains on other pack's childish fights between each other or with neighboring vampire clans. Reports of unrestrained werewolves creating trouble in the hearts of human cities.

All were things my emails and videocalls were about lately.

The same relentless cycle every damn day. Hands rubbing on my eyes.

They felt heavy, along with my body, too stiff after endless hours seated on the chair. As resilient as my kind was, the constant sleepless work nights were weighting me down.

Because I was exhausted.

All from the repeated foolish actions of my own people, which by the end of the day I would be responsible on making sure it goes unnoticed from unsuspecting human's eyes.

Sigh.

Before getting too comfortable and passing out, my legs were standing from the chair. Giving myself a stretch, bones popping from my action.

Just five minutes, I decided a little food would help before the next meeting.

Quickly shutting the computer off, I moved out of the room and guided by the sound of talking, ended up in the house's common room.

"I was about to get you." The familiar voice of my cousin came from the kitchen on my left. His dirty blond hair a bird nest on his head, some gray trousers and a black t-shirt on his build.

His appearance a grand contrast from mine, still draped on a suit. The last meeting I had, demanding a deal of formality from me and them.

"Dinner's gonna disappear with them wolves." He nodded towards the dinning table beyond the living room, where some of the younger pups were devouring the last plates of food, the parents feeding them spoonful of everything.

Eating like that showed they were healthy, though it was also the reason the house had the basement, alone, stocked with supplies for the ravishing wolves living in it.

"Here." My attention went back to my cousin, who was handing me a plate and I took it, gratefull he'd saved some for me.

Sitting down on a sofa, as the table was already full, I finally enjoyed a meal after hours of work.

"So...", Mouth stuffed, my head turned to my cousin as he sat opposite me. "Are you really going to go?" He's asked that for the millionth time this week.

"Yes."

"But-"

"It's needed. It was already schedule to go to their lands for the annual meeting anyway."

"Yeah but not for some rogues", he spat out resentfully. He was as angered as me on the matter.

Yeah, the visit was not supposed to be about rogues, but after the recent incident those idiots caused on the city, it got to the point of even involving a nightcrawler.

And it just had to be from one of the three ancient vampire clans, and the most bloody and difficult to work with. The Strigoi.

An annoyed growled ripped through my throat. My schedule had lengthen thanks to those mutts.

"I know." Of course I did. The thin line of trust we had between our kinds has always been threaten from one side or the others actions.

Rogues, though not part of any pack, were still under each kinds jurisdiction. In other words, the werewolf incident on the bloodsuckers lands came under my responsibility.
