Kaylee fell. I repeat, Kaylee Davis fell through a hole in the Gateway Arch, and the Chimera is looking at me like I'm going to be it's dinner.

"Percy!? What happened to Kaylee!?"

Grover shouts through the door. I say nothing, staring at the spot Kaylee was in before she fell. Is she dead? Is she hurt? Is she alive? I don't know.

I look up at Echinda and the Chimera, sheathing Riptide by putting it in its pen form, then making a risky choice.

Is it a good idea? Probably not. But, now Poseidon has a way to prove to me that he cares. I stare at the two monsters before walking toward the hole. I pray to Poseidon, then let myself walk into the hole and fall through it.

I don't see Kaylee as I fall. I'm falling so fast that I can't even move my head around to try and look for her.

I end up plunging into the water. I sink, but I can breathe. I attempt to swim to the surface, but I can't. My leg is stuck by a plant. I attempt to pry my leg from it, but it's no use. It doesn't work.

Through the thick air, I can faintly see a figure. Someone's talking to me, but I can't hear. I'm too focused trying to figure out who the figure is. When the figure swims toward me, I know who it is.

Kaylee.

Kaylee miraculously fell into the water, too. I stare at her, completely shocked. How she did it, I'll never know. But she swims toward me and eyes my leg.

She can breathe too. I'm confused about why for a moment before I realize. She's a siren. Obviously, she can breathe underwater. I'm stupid.

She then attempts to unwrap the plant from my leg. I almost say that it's no use and that I've already tried, but she probably won't be able to hear me through the water.

Eventually, Kaylee is fed up, and grabs her pen, unsheathes it to reveal Acacius, and slashes the plant, but is careful not to cut me.

I'm then free. I look at Kaylee, who's already swimming up to the surface. I quickly follow up.

When we both reach the surface, we cough and spit out water.

"What the hell were you thinking?!"

I exclaim.

"Letting yourself fall!? Kaylee, are you crazy?"

"I had to! I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from falling either way."

Kaylee protests. It's true. Acacius had been out of her reach, and she slipped too fast to even try and grab something to stop her fall.

"God, you pinkie."

I mutter.

"Well, you followed me! And jumped out of the hole! That's not crazy!?"

Kaylee exclaims. I grimace a little.

"Okay, maybe that wasn't the best idea. But still!!"

"Still what!?"

"I..I don't know."

Kaylee sighs.

"Are you atleast okay? Your not hurt or anything?"

I ask her. She shakes her head.

"No. I'm fine."

I breathe a sigh of relief.

"Okay. Good. That's good,"

I pause. I had heard a voice in the water. I didn't know who's it was, but it sounded... soft. Maternal, almost. I remembered one thing the voice told me.
