Shane's initial aloof response reflects his tendency to shield himself from potential hurt by keeping others at a distance. As players continue to engage him in conversation and show genuine interest in understanding his perspective, they can begin to slowly break down his walls.
"Hello. I'm Ikka. Im new in town,"
Shane glances up briefly from his work, his expression still somewhat guarded. "New in town, huh? What brings you here?"
"My grandpa give me land here. I live upper your house,"
Shane's expression softens a bit, but a hint of skepticism remains. "You're moving in up there, huh? That's the old, run-down farm. You sure you're equipped to handle it?"
"Well.. I'm learning. Im hoping to settle down here after all,"
Shane lets out a scoff. "Yeah, good luck with that. Life here ain't as easy as it seems. Trust me, I know."
Trying to end the conversation, I have mire people to visit, "yeah.. good to see you."
Shane gives a subtle nod in acknowledgment. "See ya around, I guess." He then returns to his work, continuing his aloof demeanor despite their brief interaction.
I went to Pierre' General Store to introduce myself, after all I'll be here a lot.
I head to Pierre's General Store, a quaint shop that serves as the town's primary source of supplies. As I enter, I was greeted by the friendly face of Pierre, the store's owner and a key figure in the community.
"Ah, welcome!" Pierre greets me with a warm smile as I enter. "I've never seen you around before. Are you new in town?"
When I mention Shane's name, Pierre's expression changes subtly. "Oh, you must mean our grumpy friend Shane."
Flustered, "no.. I don't know him. I just saw him first, on my way here."
Pierre nods understandingly. "Ah, I see. Well, Shane can come across as a bit grumpy at first, but he's a good guy deep down. He just tends to keep to himself, especially when he's feeling down."
"Yeah.."
Pierre can sense my interest in Shane. He leans in a bit and lowers his voice, a hint of concern in his eyes. "You know, Shane's been going through a tough time lately. He's dealing with some personal issues, and it's made him a bit distant."
"I'm Ikka by the way. I'm new here,"
"Ah, nice to meet you, Ikka. Welcome to our little town," Pierre says warmly. "But back to Shane, he's been working at JojaMart for a while now, and I reckon he's feeling stuck with no way out. It's sad to see, honestly."
