As soon as Avni was taken inside for her surgery, Prisha fell to her knees, crying out loudly. Her little dove was fighting for her life inside, and nothing could be more painful for a mother than seeing her child in such a state. As she sobbed, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning around, she saw Shekhar standing there.
"Prisha, stop crying. Everything will be okay," he said softly.
"Shekhar, the doctor said that..." Prisha couldn't even finish her sentence before breaking down into tears again.
"Prisha, stop crying. Everything is okay. I just need your signature on this document," Shekhar said, holding out some papers.
Assuming they were related to Avni's surgery, Prisha took the documents.But as soon as she saw what they were, her blood boiled.
It was some business papers
"Are you serious, Shekhar.Our daughter is fighting for her life inside, and you are telling me to sign these papers" Prisha shouted
"Why are you shouting, Prisha.This deal is important for our company. You already know we are facing so many losses," Shekhar shouted
Prisha closed her eyes tightly, trying to control her anger, then threw the papers on his face. "Just get the hell out of here right now, Shekhar. I don't want to deal with you right now."
He tightly gripped Prisha's arm, ignoring her pain.
"Prisha, you need to sign these papers now," he said in his stern voice
Prisha struggled against his hold, her eyes filled with tears. "Shekhar, how can you be so heartless.Our daughter is fighting for her life inside"
But Shekhar was not affected "I don't have time for this, Prisha. The company's future is at stake. Just sign the damn papers."
Shekhar forced Prisha's hand to the documents. She signed them,tears streaming down her face.
As soon as she had finished, Shekhar snatched the papers away, his expression cold. "Thank you. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to take care of other matters."
He walked off, leaving Prisha alone
As Riddhima came out from the operating theater, Prisha's heart skipped a beat. Her eyes were red and swollen from tears,"How is Avni.Is everything alright"
Riddhima looked worried as she replied, "We havve called in the senior doctors for the surgery. I can't do it myself."
Prisha's anxiety grew. "Why. Is something wrong.Why the senior doctors"
Riddhima gently patted Prisha's shoulder and said, "The surgery Avni needs is very complicated. Only senior doctors can handle it. Just keep hoping for the best."
Prisha took a deep breath, trying to steady herself as the hours dragged on. Each second felt like an eternity. Finally, she saw Riddhima came out from the operating room, her face looking tense and worried.
"Prisha, we urgently need O-negative blood.Do you know anyone with that blood type.We have checked all the blood banks, but it's not available anywhere ."
"Mybhusband has O-negative blood. I will call him right now."Prisha quickly pulled out her phone and dialed her Shekher's number. The call rang and rang, but he didn't answer. With each failed attempt, Prisha's anxiety grew.
After several attempts, he finally picked up, but his voice was sharp and irritated. "Can't you understand I am in an important meeting right now. Don't call me again." Before Prisha could say anything, he ended the call abruptly and switched off his phone.
Prisha tried calling again, her hands shaking, but now his phone was turned off.
Prisha's eyes were filled with tears as she hung up the call. Her hands shook uncontrollably as she stared at her phone, realizing that her husband's number was now unreachable.
Turning to Riddhima, her voice cracked "Riddhima, he is not answering his phone. I have tried calling him over and over, but he just—he just hung up on me. He switched off his phone now. I don't know what to do."
Her voice broke as she spoke. She wiped her tears with the back of her hand, feeling utterly helpless and desperate.
Riddhima looked at Prisha with concern. "Don't worry.We have called other hospitals as well. They might be able to help."
Prisha nodded slightly.It's been an hour, and they still haven't been able to arrange the blood. Avni's condition is worsening. Prisha had called her husband a hundred times, but his phone is switched off.
Riddhima's face showed sympathy. "Did your husband pick up your call"
Prisha shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. "No, he didn't"
"Prisha, we need that blood immediately."
Prisha cried out, " I am completely helpless."
Riddhima thought for a moment and left from there
After few minutes,Prisha noticed the nursing staff hurrying through the emergency department. Concerned, she stopped one of the nurses. "Why is everyone rushing.Is everything okay"
The nurse, slightly out of breath, replied, "We have got the blood.Dr. Riddhima had O-negative blood and she decided to donate it."
After Riddhima donated her blood, she began to feel something strange. As she lay down on bed, her vision blurred, and a wave of dizziness overcame her. Her face was pale, and she felt weak and lightheaded.
The nurse who had been attending her noticed her and quickly moved to her side. "Dr. Riddhima, are you alright.You don't look well."
The nurse, checking her vitals, said, "You knew your blood count was low and still decided to donate. You should have been more careful. This could affect your health."
"I knew it might make me weak, but that girl was in danger. I felt I had to help. If I hadn't donated, she might have lost her life."Ridhima replied
Outside, Prisha, who had overheard the conversation,thought to herself, "How can someone be so selfless".
Prisha knocked on the door and stepped inside. "Thank you so much for this, Riddhima.No matter how much I say it, I can never repay you for this. Thank you for doing this," she said while joining her hands
Riddhima, despite her own exhaustion, gave a faint smile. "Prisha, you don't have to thank me. I just did what anyone would do in this situation. Avni's life is what matters."
Prisha wiped her tears"You have done more than just help. You have saved a life. I am forever grateful."
Riddhima's expression softened. "I'm just glad I could be of help. Please focus on Avni now. She will need all the love and care."
Prisha nodded"I will. Thank you again, Riddhima. I don't know how to ever repay you----
"Just seeing Avni recover will be enough for me."Ridhima replied
After 3 hours
The Nurse came out and informed Prisha
"The senior doctors have finished the surgery. It was tough, but Avni is in recovery now. They are keeping a close eye on her."
Prisha's shoulders relaxed slightly. "Can I see her"
"Not right now.She needs to rest, and the doctors will update you once she's settled"
