CARTERSON'S HOUSE

A young adolescent with blonde hair and hazel eyes was stepping from the stairs straight to the living room and into the kitchen. She began to make breakfast eating cereal when another woman with blonde hair wearing a Police uniform came in.

"Hey, Sweetpea, you all set for school tomorrow?" she asks with a playful tone, strolling behind the counter and whipping up her coffee. Meanwhile, the teenager plops down on one of the island chairs and starts munching her cereal.

"Well, I mean, who doesn't love spending a solid eight hours just sitting down and taking notes that may or may not be useful in the future?" she sarcastically remarked.

Her mother shot her a playful glance, "Emma, learning is a good thing," she quipped, casually sipping her coffee.

"Hmm," Emma playfully nibbled on her cereal, stealing a glance at her mother, considering whether to ask her question once more. "Mom, I gotta ask again, why become a cop when you're already a superhero with powers? I mean, it's like having a double dose of crime-fighting awesomeness!"

"Emma, being a superhero is all well and good," She said, setting her coffee down, "but I'm ready for a change. I want to put my powers to use in a more refined and sophisticated manner."

Her daughter nodded softly as her mother continued.

"Look," She grabbed her daughter's hand, massaging her hand as she did often when providing comfort to her children. "I choose what I want to be and what I can do with my powers, you can choose the same way or not, is your choice, all I ask is you be careful and safe, okay."

Emma smiled at her mother, "Okay."

Her mother smiled back and released her hand, reaching for her coffee. Emma continued eating her cereal when a man with black hair approached them.

"Hey, Dad," Emma greets.

"Hey," He greets back.

"Hey, Honey," Cordelia warmly greets the man and leans in to kiss him.

"Hey, sweetie" John greets. "You know we shouldn't let the girls do chores today."

The girls look at him confused, as Cordelia asks, "Why?"

"Especially, Edie, I think my princess prefers to go to her friend's house instead," Her husband remarked. "Don't you agree, Wifey dear?"

When her husband starts talking like he's in a trance and throws out a "dear," she knows something's up. And she's got a pretty good idea of who's behind it.

"EDIE!" Her mother shouted.

Emma couldn't help but burst into laughter when she turned around and spotted her younger sister approaching with a mischievous grin, saying, "Yes, mother dear."

"Don't give me the 'Yes, mother dear', " She jokingly said as she put her hands on her waist, "How many times do I have to remind you not to use your powers on him?"

"Maybe, I can't remember," Edie said.

"Get your father out of the trance now!" Her mother exclaimed.

"But mom—l," Edie said

"Edith!"

"Fine," Edie approached her father, playfully grabbed his hand, and said, "I release you."

John blinks a few times and starts to lose his balance, but Cordelia quickly comes to his aid, helping him stand while the two girls share a few chuckles.

John glanced at his youngest daughter, who wore a mischievous smile as she sat beside her sister. He then looked at his wife, who gave him a knowing look. "She did it again, didn't she?" he asked.
