The first time that Cairo meet Devin, well was rather a cliché.
The start of the semester, now no longer High school but first year in University.
They obviously meet in the dorm, bumping into eachother causing Cairos box of books to come crashing to the floor. A glare shared and a guilty stranger helping pick them up while apologizing an unhealthy amount.
That was when Cairo couldn't really stand her, I mean, she found her annoying rather than nice or just straight up weird. While the other young adult felt, Cairo Sweet was the most beautiful person she'd ever meet. The way the hair so nicely bounced, or how her eyebrows knitted together when she'd pass her in the hallway, showing clearly she wasn't pleased to see her face the way Devin was. Well that went right over her head.
While Devin was trying to befriend the brunette, Cairo was trying to be the one to make her fall down face first.
Well to the present, let's say, Cairo got rather used to the Stranger calling out to her, trying to stall the cafeteria from closing so that Cairo would get breakfast even thou she was way to late. How she did it? Asking an annoying amount of question about the food. Keeping the women behind the counter busy while Cairo picked up what she wanted and went to sit down. Obviously Cairo just thought it was the annoying side of this weirdo. Not realizing it was the observant and caring side.
One thing Cairo hated the most, how well liked you were in class.
You majored in Mythology, and also went to philosophy and writing classes because you believed both went hand in hand.
Everyone in class seemed so obsessed with you, quickly gathering to sit around you to talk about the last movie that showed in the cinema. Or to simply flirt. A lot of women, men and also enbies kept hitting on you, and weirdly enough, Cairo felt jealous.
While Devin's attention is always on her it's not with all those imbeciles gathering like a Murder* around you. Picking to get the nicest pieces.Thats when it really started, she would walk across the street on purpose so you'd see her infront of you and hurry to walk with her. Or she'd sit down in class after coming extra early just so you'd sit close to her, getting her to roll her eyes when you'd start talking to her.
Cairo did everything to have your eyes on her. And it seemed to work, people in class seemed to keep their distance and the barista down the campus stopped openly hitting on you.
But she wasn't satisfied yet.
Not even in the slightest.*a Murder is a group of crows ☝️
