"You're telling me every single flight to Washington D.C, is canceled?" Lucia asked the woman standing in front of her.
"I'm sorry ma'am, it's due to the weather."
Lucia's eyes shifted to the windows, even though it was dark the weather was perfectly fine, with no clouds or any sign of rain.
Her head snapped back to the woman when she began to speak again, "What I can do for you is replace your plane ticket to flight 462 to Phoenix."
Lucia stared back at her, if her original flight couldn't fly because of the weather, why could other flights? But before she could say anything the woman continued, "One hour after arrival there's a plane scheduled for Washington D.C."
"It's the only flight available?"
"Yes ma'am."
Lucia nodded, "Okay sure, thank you so much."
The woman nodded, switching out her ticket. "It's boarding in 30 minutes."
Lucia smiled, thanking the woman once more before turning around towards her plane dragging her suitcase behind her. She felt something vibrating in her pocket, she reached for her phone and quickly answered it when she noticed it was her sister.
"Hi, everything going well?" Lucia asked, expecting her sister to be on the other end, but she smiled even wider when she heard the soft voice that belonged to her daughter.
"Hi, mom."
"Hi baby, what are you doing up so late? Isn't bedtime for you now?"
"Auntie said I could finish watching the movie, and also call to say goodnight."
"Yeah, has she been taking good care of you?" Lucia was lucky to have her sister, she was always available to help her out with Aurora when she had to go on work trips or was working overtime.
"Of course, she has," She heard her sister's voice echoing through the phone, "She's the best babysitter." Aurora agreed with her.
"That's good, you sleep well tonight okay baby, I love you, mom needs to talk to her sister for a moment." She needed to tell her sister she'd be home later than expected because of those stupid flights.
"Okay, I love you mom, goodnight." She heard the phone get passed on, and the quick soft footsteps of her daughter running to her room.
She heard Paula's soft chuckle, "She's such a sweetie, sometimes I wish my daughters were a bit more like her."
