Fuck off, Riorson!

Listening to the death roll for sure was a punch to the gut and having to watch Dain and Violet get all familiar with each behind some pillars definitely didn't help to ease my morning sickness. It was nothing new that I would get sick from all the worries and overthinking. Did I trust Dain Aetos? Fuck no. I knew about his classified power, read about it in one of my father's letters I went through before I left. He was touching her face, he was touching her face. I did not like this.

Finally, Violet stepped away but froze instinctively when she looked to the side. I followed her gaze and cursed loudly. Not even twenty feet away was standing Xaden and the way he was looking at her was promising trouble. My body moved on its own and I jumped out of the shadows I was hiding in, stepping next to Violet. "Let's go. Now!" I hissed while grabbing her arm. Violet's wide eyes met my and she looked confused around herself, probably wondering where I had come from. "He can't hurt us here, not without reason" I whispered to her, noticing how Bodhi stepped closer to Xaden after my sudden appearance.

"Fuck off, Riorson!"

Honestly, I couldn't tell myself where I found the courage to shout these three words across the hallway. Violet's fingers bore into my arm while she whispered my name in warning. "Search for someone your own size to bully!" I did not have a temper but I kind of did. Or rather I acted a lot on impulses that got me in trouble more often than it should be likeable. "Another guard dog of yours? Is Aetos not enough for you?" Xaden asked mockingly, taking a step forward us.

Violet's body tensed and her hand moved right over her dagger. "Unlike Aetos I do bite" I snarled back and Riorson raised an eyebrow, looking almost amused. "Let me guess, tight parents? Childhood friends?" Xaden asked Violet and I could feel her fingers tensing over my arm she was still gripping. He was trying to figure out who I was. "Friends? We could be lovers I wouldn't tell you shit" I replied and this time I was a hundret percent sure that Xaden fucking Riorson's smirk was full of amusement. He would kill us.

"Don't you two lovely ladies have somewhere else to be?" Bodhi asked as he stepped between us. As if he knew that Riorson was about to lash out. "We wouldn't want you to be late to your first class" he added with a hand on Riorson's chest, pushing him slightly backwards. Then his eyes met mine and his head moved slightly, signaling us to make a run for it. I grabbed Violet's hand and started to drag her away from Riorson's little group and toward Battle brief.

We were one of the last to arrive but luckily Rhiannon had saved us two seats. "What took you both so long?" she whisper-shouted. Her eyes moved to my face and she winced slightly. Turned out my face got slightly bruised after yesterday. "Again, sorry." She had been apologizing this whole morning even though I had already told her that it was fine. Violet started to explain our late running and I started to feel a pair of eyes on me and turned around in my seat only to meet Bodhi's dark onyx eyes. He was sitting some rows behind me, leaning back in his chair and having both of his muscular arms crossed over his chest. He clearly didn't mind that I caught him starring and only smirked in response. I quickly turned away from him and tried to concentrate on Professor Devora in the front of the circular class room.

As soon as Professor Markham stepped into the room I slid down my chair as far as possible without actually sliding down the chair and lowered my head in hopes my hair would conceal my face . I knew there were descriptions about me in some books the scribes possessed here at Basgiath. One thing I had learned from Violet was to never underestimate a scribe. Violet was showing that point once again by asking the right questions and solving the case Professor Devera presented us with completely on her own.

"You really did have a boring childhood, didn't you?" I teased after the second and third year took over with the questions. "At least I wasn't caged inside the same castle for my whole life" Violet shot back in a whisper. I gasped dramatically and put a hand over my heart while Violet stuck her tongue out at me. "At least I'm not crushing on the most boring guy in the whole quadrant" I whispered back and Violet's cheeks turned pink. "At least my father loved me." My jaw hung open while Violet put a hand over her mouth.
