Prologue

"Let's just give up and go home. I'll happily take the expulsion if it means never having to fight that thing again." Ace said. You have been looking for them! But what are they talking about?

"What nuh-uh, not happenin' I'd rather die then get expelled from night raven! How can you give up when the stone is right there?" Deuce said

"Pffft. Big talk for someone who's not even half the mage I am. You want that stone so bad, go get it yourself. I'm out." Ace said as you started to walk up to them, ace and deuce didn't notice you but grim did.

"Hey! Where were you!? Do you know how worri- I mean, how annoyed I was!?" Grim whisper-shouted to you

"Sorry, I was just looking around" you whispered back

"Oh YEAH!? Fine go back to your coop, you big chicken!" Deuce angrily screamed

"Whaaaaat?! Who're you callin' chicken, huh!?" Ace yelled back

"Woah, Deuce... was it just me or did you turn into a totally different person just now?" Grim asked

"Yeah, that was weird!" You said

"WOAH! Where did you come from!?" Both deuce and ace said at the same time

"Where did you go!?" Ace asked

"Yeah, it's dangerous here! You should probably go back..." deuce said as he looked slightly worried

"It's fine, the mirror said that I was powerful! So I'll be fine!" You said

"Fine, you can stay... I mean you did somehow carry me while flying so..." ace said

"Okay so, what now?" Grim asked

"Don't you guys have magic?" You asked. You managed to understand that there was some monster they needed to fight and if you were correct it was probably the monster from the picture, what did they call it...? ..Overblot?

"The headmaster said it himself... magic has limits. If you can't strongly visualise your magic, it isn't going to happen. Using magic at a greater scale, or using different types of magic - those things require training." Deuce explained.

"Yeah, that's why magic academies exist. It takes a lot of training before you can snap your fingers and turn your thoughts into magic. And the more flustered you are, the more likely you are to make mistakes." Ace continued

"So that's why grim can only summon fire." You said

"Hey! I'm gonna learn how to use WAY cooler magic than that, for the record! I'm just hittin' my stride here!" Grim said

"Anyway, we need to find some way to defeat that creature and get the magestone." Deuce said

"Yeaaaaaah. Just like the time with the chandelier, right? You 'found some way', and now, here we are. We just fought that thing and it completely destroyed us. So what exactly is your plan here, genius? Because I sure don't trust you to improvise!" Ace said angrily. This was making you feel both sad and mad, sad because they remind you of your sisters, mad because they can't even work together!!

"Aaand they're at it again." Grim said as he deadpanned

"So I guess let's all get expelled then." You said as you crossed your arms
