"Yes, grandma we can leave now," K'Mari said as she grabbed her phone and clutch. K'Mari grandma stood there and smiled at her. K'Mari smiled and looked at her grandma. She knew her grandmother was proud. She was proud. K'Mari thought after her mom died she died. She wanted to give up on life but she didn't. She had to prove to everyone that she was going make it. She had to prove it to herself. She was graduating high school today and was going to college in the fall, with a full scholarship for any college of her choice.
"Your mom would be so proud of you, let's go before I start crying." Her grandmother said. They walked out the house and to her grandmother 1999 Honda Accord. They got in and her grandmother started it, pulling off. K'Mari looked out the window and started to think about her mom. A few tears slipped out as she remembered the day her mom was murdered.
"Mari you ready?" Her mother Jane asked her as she walked into K'Mari room. K'Mari walked out her closet ready to go.
"Yes, where we going again?" K'Mari asked her mother as she grabbed her cross-bag. Jane looks at K'Mari and smiled.
"It's a surprise, let's go," Jane said grabbing K'Mari hand. They walked out her room and downstairs. Jane grabbed her purse and they walked out the door running into a big man. Jane looked at him and got scared. "K'Mari go back into the house," Jane said pushing K'Mari back into the house. She shut the door and looked at the man.
"Where is my money Sugar?" The man asked Jane. She could see the coldness in her eyes. She knows he was out for her blood.
"I need a Lil more time Kev please," Jane said looking back at K'Mari in the window. Tears slipped out of Jane's eyes as she looked at her baby girl.
"More time Sugar I can't do that." The man said pulling out his gun. He put it at her heart and looked at Jane then K'Mari in the window. "She going grow up without a mother." He said pulling the trigger. He walked away and Jane felled to the ground. K'Mari ran out the house and to her mother. Jane looked at her daughter and let a tear slip from her eyes.
"I love you, Mari." Those were Jane last words to K'Mari. K'Mari want to kill the man that killed her mom. She never did find out where they were going that day, it hurted her because her mother tried so hard to provide for her and for somebody to just take her away hurt her to the core. K'Mari was only eight. It's been 10 years since that happen.
They never did find out who shot and killed K'Mari mother. To be honest, K'Mari don't believe they tried. She was just another dead stripper.
"K'Mari come on baby." Her grandmother said as she got out the car. K'Mari got out the car and fix her gown. They walked in the building and K'Mari went to sit with her class. K'Mari was so happy. She was about to accomplish what she wanted to accomplish.

"You finished baby, I'm so proud of you and I know your mom looking down smiling at you, I love you." K'Mari grandmother said as they sat in Golden Corral. K'Mari smiled up at her grandmother.
"I know grandmother and I love you too." K'Mari replied as she got up and went to the dessert section. She wanted some chocolate covered strawberries. She grabbed a plate and three sticks. She put three strawberries on each of them and stuck them in the chocolate fountain. Someone bump into her and she turn around and saw the most beautiful man she ever saw before. He stood at least 6'4, brown skin with light brown eyes and dreads. One of K'Mari weakness. She loved a dude with dreads. She thought it was so cute. His dreads were freshly twisted too. She smiled and so did he.
