You didn't have time to think about some sexually deprived degenerate. Your best friend, who was surprisingly fast, was about to get her ass killed. Sure, she's been dramatic, sitting in the middle of deserted roads after a breakup, but that was just you guys being silly!
What could have her so distraught to run into the road without thinking twice!? You were definitely giving this bitch a piece of your mind once you caught her.
"Zuri!"
You called out once again, to no avail. You were determined, but no amount of determination could convince you to chase after Zuri until she decided to stop. Sprinting turned into running, which turned into jogging, which turned into speed walking, which turned into stopping.
Letting out an annoyed groan, you ran a hand through your hair. You struggled to catch your breath from running for so long so unexpectedly. It was roughly 3am, or at least you thought it was. You weren't entirely sure, given you hadn't checked when you checked your battery earlier that night.
As you stopped running, producing less body heat as a reaction of not moving much anymore, the cold of the night started getting to you. You gripped your arms, feeling the cold concrete on your feet as if you weren't even wearing socks! With how cold the night was someone may have thought it was the middle of winter in Canada... Or just anytime in general in Canada.
Therefore, if you were this cold and the type of person to wear a dress or skirt in the winter, you could only imagine how cold Zuri was.
You knew from past winters together that she wasn't the best when it came to the cold. Always wanting to hide under layers of comforters and heating pads instead of moving, even just to get food.
This adrenaline rush must have really done something to her...
You desperately wanted to get back to the house and put on some shoes, a jacket something! But there was a faint voice in your head telling you to continue trudging on. Maybe solely to find Zuri and bring her home, perhaps other reasons.
Then a thought flashed across your mind. You needed a job. If you were going to support the lifestyle of going out and buying anything that even mildly peaks your interest, you'd need the money in the first place.
Rolling your eyes, you turned around and started to walk back 'home'. Fuck Zuri, if she wanted to come home, she would. However, you were going to give Bella a piece of your mind.
Not only because Bella drove Zuri away, but also as her best friend it made you obligated to chase after her until you had a valid reason to stop. Aesthetic core you guessed. A scowl formed on your face as you recalled the turns you took to get to where you were now.
Hopefully, you'd actually remember correctly and not freeze to death. Either way, you're not sure if you'd care much. As you walked down the street, you could feel the unwavering stares from people on their porches.
Why were they out so early? You spared one person a glance, only to be met with blank, seemingly lifeless eyes. Reacting almost immediately, you averted your gaze back to the ground. However, you could feel their gaze lingering.
It made you uncomfortable. You furrowed your eyebrows, looking back up at them.
"What the fuck do you want!?"
You yelled, gritting your teeth, and clenching your fists. They stared daggers through you, as if awaiting the perfect moment to attack you.
Blinking, you realized what this was... It had been happening much more often than you'd like to admit. Such a shame you couldn't shoo them away as if they were mosquitoes attempting to get a drink of your blood.
The only thing you could do was tolerate it until you could get back to the house and away from them.
You burst through the doors of your new home, desperate for some warmth. Groaning impatiently, you noticed Bella pacing in the living room and Elise just giving her side glances. The least you could say about Bella is that she looked like a mess, for lack of better words.
She look nearly twice as stupid as she did when you met her. Once Bella took notice of you in the house her eyes widened.
"Ohmygod! Y/n, you're back!"
She spoke, panicked and rushed. You simply rolled your eyes as Bella ran up to you. Not for a hug, you assumed. Hopefully just an explanation. However, you still avoided Bella like the plague.
Sitting down next to Elise, who scooted a bit farther down the couch, you heard Bella speak.
"Y/n?... Where's Zuri?... Is she okay?..."
Bella mumbled, quiet and hesitant. You rolled your eyes, grabbing your phone from the charger. Still had to find a job after all.
"Why the hell would you care?"
You hissed, venom dripping of every word you spoke.
"You're the one who drove her away!"
You raised your tone a bit, feeling your anger bubbling up inside. Usually when you got angry you tried to conceal it, not wanting to seem similar to your father.
"I— I didn't—"
"Shut the fuck up!"
You suddenly yelled, making both Elise and Bella flinch. What a shame you weren't as good at masking your anger as you thought. Perhaps this is why most people didn't like you.
"You're one hell of a girlfriend! I don't know what happened in there, but for Zuri to run out crying!?"
You gritted your teeth, faint thoughts urging you to simply punch Bella. As if it would relieve much anger. You stood up and scowled as you continued to yell.
"You've really fucking done it now! I simply wouldn't be surprised if Zuri decided to never come back!"
Bella's eyes were wide. Tears threatening to pour down her cheeks. Pathetic, honestly... Elise just scoffed and stood up, walking to her room. Why did you have to play games all the time?
"I mean— I certainly wouldn't!"
"Tha-... That's not true!..."
Bella exclaimed through choked sobs. You had to be lying! There was no way that she ruined another relationship!
"But it is! Now Zuri's outside in the freezing cold, alone, with probably nowhere to stay!"
Bella felt vulnerable. She knew she made a horrible mistake, but she had t realize it might've turned out this horrible.
She let out a choked sob before running to her room. Bella closed and locked the door, not wanting to interact with anyone.
"Don't try to hide from the truth now!"
You called out for extra measure, now sitting back down on the couch. You gave a slight smirk, now scrolling on your phone. That's what the bitch gets for trying to turn your own best friend against you. However, you decided to dwell on it some other time.
Time to put in a few job applications you guessed.
