The settings dark in the bar as the random songs shuffling in the background.

I stand watching one of the slowest days we've had in over a month go by as it feels like an eternity, when in reality I'm only going on the third hour of my shift.

"Hey little lady."

Looking up I see Ryan, a harmless older man in his fifties that is always around, tapping the counter as he waits while I pour his usual.

"How's your night going so far, Ryan?" I ask, sliding over his vodka neat.

"Better now that I have my favorite bartender back." He chuckles as he shoots back his drink, "That Marley girl is so rude and she's always so slow." I chuckle as he mixes up Miranda's name.

He not wrong though. She really is a bitch, and whenever I get stuck working with her I always end up having to pick up her slack while she flirts with half the bar.

"Well then you're in luck, I'll be here all week because she called off." I send him a friendly smile, refilling his glass.

I'm pissed that I'm the one who has to cover for her when she's not even sick, she just doesn't want to come in.

"Thank god." He turns in his bar stool and stares at an older blonde lady on the other side of the bar who's been keeping an eye on him.

"Be back, little lady. I've had my drinks of courage now it's time to tango." He raises his brows a couple times with a wild smile before he walks towards the woman.

I laugh while cleaning up his space returning to my duties.

Two hours has passed and night crowd is starting to come in slowly.

Ryan's been on the dance floor with the woman for a while now. It's cute seeing them slowly sway to the beat of the songs that play, while whispering to each other and laughing, he sees me staring and sends me a giddy thumbs up before returning his attention back on her.

Another two hours pass and it's ten o'clock when Issac finally walks behind the bar.

"Not too busy tonight, huh."

"Yeah, you mind if I take my break?" I walk towards the back door without even waiting for his reply when he was an hour and a half late to begin with.

"I got this! Sure no problem." I hear him say from where he stands while laughing before the door shuts.

Walking down the well lit alley I make it to my car safely, locking my door when I'm sitting behind the wheel.

Grabbing a cigarette I light it while rolling my window down slightly, turning down my radio so it's low enough for me to keep an eye out for my surroundings, I take a quick drag while rubbing the backs of my sore legs.
