Time to go through with angst! This is prob going to be a long chapter or short who knows?
The city skyline shimmered under the moonlight, the streets quiet after the chaos of the past week. MK sat on the rooftop of Pigsy's Noodles, staring into the night. The battle with Azure had left deep scars, not just on the city, but within him. He could still hear the echoes of destruction, feel the weight of his friends' lives in his hands.
His breaths came shallow and quick, the edges of his vision blurring. Panic was closing in like a vice around his chest. He tried to ground himself, to think of something else, but the memories kept flooding back.
Suddenly, a shadow fell across him. "Kid, you alright?" It was Sun Wukong, his mentor, and friend, appearing beside him with a look of concern.
MK couldn't find his voice. He just shook his head, feeling the sting of tears. Wukong's usually bright demeanor softened, and he placed a comforting hand on MK's shoulder.
"It's okay, MK," Wukong said gently. "You went through a lot. It's normal to feel like this."
From the corner of his eye, MK saw another figure emerging from the shadows. Macaque, the Six-Eared Macaque, stood a few feet away. His usual smirk was replaced by a rare expression of empathy. "Hey, kid. It's not easy, facing what you did."
MK took a shuddering breath, trying to steady himself. "I... I can't stop thinking about it. The fight, the danger... I keep feeling like I failed."
"You didn't fail," Macaque said, moving closer and sitting down next to MK. "You did what you had to do. You protected your friends, and that's what matters."
Wukong nodded, his hand still firm on MK's shoulder. "And you weren't alone. We were all there, and we all got through it together. You don't have to carry this burden by yourself."
MK looked between the two of them, the unlikely duo who had come to his aid. "But what if it happens again? What if I'm not strong enough?"
Macaque sighed, his tone surprisingly gentle. "Strength isn't just about power, MK. It's about resilience, about getting back up even when you're knocked down. And you've got that in spades."
Wukong smiled. "And you've got us. We won't let you face anything alone."
For the first time in what felt like forever, MK felt a glimmer of hope. The weight on his chest began to lift, if only a little. He leaned into Wukong's touch, allowing himself to find comfort in the presence of his mentor and the unexpected support of Macaque.
"Thanks, guys," MK whispered, his voice shaky but sincere.
Wukong ruffled MK's hair. "Anytime, kiddo. Anytime."
Macaque gave a small, rare smile. "We're here for you, MK. No matter what."
As the night deepened, MK stayed on the rooftop with Wukong and Macaque, the shadows and moonlight blending into a quiet symphony of comfort and understanding. For now, he wasn't alone, and that was enough
