chapter 5: date

Y/n pov

It was 10 minutes until 12 pm and I was at my locked sorting out my timetable.

"Hey," Someone said behind me.

"Mal, you gave me a fright!" I laughed, "do you need help with anything?"

"No, but you do." Mal raised her eyebrows at my confusion. "Your date with Carlos in, 10, nope, 9 minutes?" She double checked her watch.

"Oh my goodness, I completely forgot, and I'm still in this outfit, sorry Mal gotta run and get ready!" I said running off.

Mal grabbed my wrist stopping me. "Wait let me help." She got out a spell book and spoke, waving her fingers.

Suddenly I was in an adorable baby doll pink dress. I twirled round. "Wow Mal thank you."

I tried to hug her but she backed away. "Not a hugger? That's fine. Anyways I'll see you later maybe? "

She nodded as Ben approached her. "Hey y/n!" He smiled.

"Bye Ben!" I shouted running off to the lake.

Carlos pov

I leaned on a pillar waiting for y/n to arrive. I arrived there an hour early to set up, because I know the date means nothing to me but I wanted to make an effort.

Its was 12:01 pm and I sighed. She wasn't gonna come. That dumb cookie didn't work, she was faking it. God I'm stupid.

Suddenly I heard a shout. "Carlos, I'm so sorry I'm late, I swear I wasn't trying to skip it I just got so caught up and woah!" She yelled as she tripped on a rock.

I quickly caught her by the shoulders. "You good?" I asked corncernly. She nodded with a smile.

We sat there for awhile, talking about ourselves. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't actually that bad. I enjoyed her presence.

"Oh!" She perked up. "I made you something!"

"Made me something?" I chuckled.

"Yeah like how you made me that cookie, which was amazing by the way!" She grinned.

"Mals mums recipe!" I half smiled.

"What?" She tilted her head.

"Nevermind, what did you make me?" I said switching the subject.

"A jelly donut!" She said proudly presenting it to me.

I smirked and took it taking a huge bite out of it. "Mmmm"

"Is this your first time?" She asked

"Umm, we don't really date much on the island, it's more like...gang activity." I explain

She giggled and looked back up at me. "I meant, is this your first time eating a jelly donut?"

I went a bit red, "Oh yes, ha yes it is. Silly me."

We both laughed.

"Tell me about yourself Carlos." She said resting her head onto her hand.

"Well I'm 16, I'm an only child, and I've only ever lived in one place." I stated.

"Same! We have so much in common already!" She joked

"Trust me we do not." I joked back. "What about you?"

"I have many many cousins, all several years older. I used to have a brother called Gabriel but he died a couple years back." She said with a hint of sadness on her voice.

"Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss." I answered feeling terrible for her.

"Nah, it's fine. It's been years I'm over it." She lied.

"If you say so..."

"Hey I'm gonna go for swim or more of a walk in the lake. I cant really swim. Wanna come?" She suddenly announced.

"I'm good," I nervous chuckled, " I'm gonna stay behind and try a strawberry.

She kissed my cheek and skipped off.

I sighed.

I actually allowed myself to start liking that girl. I mean why wouldn't you like her? She's kind, understanding, pretty and just amazing. I wish that her feelings were real. I started to re think our plans to "take over the world" blah blah blah but it was to late. If we dont get that wand, our parents will murder us, literally.

All of a sudden y/n rose from the water and crawled onto the floor.

"Oh my god- Carlos?" She asked. She looked really confused for some reason.

"Yeah?" I curiously answered.

"Um what - what we're we doing again?" She questioned.

I raised and eyebrow. "We're on our date, remember?"

"Oh yes, haha, that water must've made me dizzy or something haha."

I helped her to her feet and wrapped a towel around her. "Let's head back now yeah?"
