Edward returned in early November. Forks weather had decided on an early winter so the first snow had fallen, the temperatures were generally below freezing and the streets were slippery. Hence, Angela had decided not to drive, although she had recently gotten her license and was technically allowed to.

On a foggy, slow drive to school they listened to the radio and drank their coffee from thermos cups as Angela told her about her plans for the day. She had come to get along with Bella and had started including her in her friend group which Lucy was really happy about. Bella had gone to the beach with them in the past where she had also become friends with some members of Sam's pack.

Lucy hadn't heard anything about wolves since she had encountered Sam on her morning run and she was rather happy about that. She hadn't really talked to Carlisle at all even though she had offered friendship to him and they were both doing well. Still, Esme and Rosalie came around often and the trio had what could only be described as a book club.

They picked a book every week and on Saturdays the Cullen women came to her place to discuss the books. It had boosted her reading intake and had stopped her from painting so much which in turn caused way less dreams and a bit of a relaxation period for her wallet.

The school day was as slow as ever. With midterms coming up she was mostly repeating the same materials and went over questions her students might have. With an upcoming trip to the botanical gardens - which they had to do in November for whatever reason, when she had actually requested it to be either in September or in April - she also came to discuss any topics that were going to be discussed there.

"Okay, guys, please remember the projects you have to prepare for the gardens", she called out when the bell rang, "If you don't put in the work beforehand there's no chance you'll finish it so please do your research. See you on Monday, don't forget the permission slips!"

The classroom cleared out and she quickly gathered her things, ready to get into the warmth of her home after a day in a place that was too cheap for proper heating. She rushed across the parking lot when there was turmoil across the way. Tyler Crowley's van had gotten out of control and was headed for Bella.

"Bella!"

But before she could have done anything the van seemed to be pushed back and when everyone looked up again Edward was holding Bella, his hand against the van as he had held it back. Lucy's eyes widened at the sudden display of his vampiric strength. She looked at the other Cullens who were just as shocked as she was and when she looked back to Bella Edward had left her.

She rushed over, "Holy shit, Bella, are you okay?"

Everyone else must have had the same thought so she quickly crowd-managed the area.

"Okay, everybody, get out of the way, please. Tyler, get out of the van, I'll drive both of you to the hospital right now. Jessica, put your phone away, it's really gruelling that you're taking pictures right now. Mike, stop snickering, both of them could be seriously injured. Angela, help Tyler to my car please."

They all did as they were told and soon enough she had Tyler and Bella in her backseat with Angela in the passenger seat.

"Ange, will you call Carlisle, please? Tell him we're coming, and then Charlie to tell him what happened", she looked in the rearview mirror, "Tyler, do your parents know what happened?"

"No, ma'am, I left my phone in the car, sorry", he looked down in shame, "I'm so sorry, Bella, I don't know what happened."

"It's alright, I'm okay", Bella looked up at Lucy, "I don't need to go to the hospital, Lucy, and you don't have to call Charlie. I'm okay, really."
