"SOLD!" the loudmouth man exclaimed. My heart sank, and I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. Please, God, let this be some twisted nightmare where I wake up in my soul mate's arms. But deep down, I knew that wouldn't happen. Not now, not ever.
Imagine being betrayed by your ex-boyfriend and best friend, and then being sold to some wicked asshole? That's just fucked up!
A burning sensation spread through my arms like wildfire from the tight grip the man held on me as he roughly pulled me along with him to receive my fate, which I wasn't ready for.
"Go inside. He's already there. Any fuck-ups, and you're dead," he said, pushing me inside and closing the door.
I closed my eyes, praying, Dear God, please don't let me and my bestie be sold to this person. Amen. I exhaled, opening my eyes to find myself in a room with Rome!
"Why didn't you say anything?!" I asked, shocked.
"I just wanted to give you your moment," he replied, before engulfing me in a bone-crushing hug, which I didn't hesitate to return. "Baby?"
"Hmmm?" I hummed, inhaling his perfume.
"I love you," I smiled.
"I love you too," he replied. "And baby?"
"Yes, Alex?"
"Your hair looks terrible , but you, still look cute," he said, laughing before kissing my lips. I pushed him off, glaring up at him.
"Now I see why I can't stand you."
He smiled, grabbing my cheeks on both sides, peppering my face with kisses. "We need to stay here for a little while."
Before I could ask why, a loud boom was heard. "Lani!"

"What was that?" I asked Alex.
"Kay! Oh my god, she's outside." I pulled away from Alex, heading to the door, ready to open it, but Alex's hand stopped me. "What are you doing?"
"Kay could be in danger."
"She's fine. Rome has her," Alex reassured me.
"All this should be blown over in any minute," Alex said. I nodded.
A few more minutes passed before two knocks came in contact with the door, startling me. Alex gave me a reassuring glance before opening the door ajar. Whispering occurred between him and whoever was at the door before he closed it again.
"Ready?" I nodded, taking his hand. It's all over... or so I thought.
